I think the biggest issue with prices isn't what current gen is costing now, but what next gen is going to cost then, it'll sure hurt the wallet, them early people that actually got a founders or rdna2 at msrp must be really happy can't have been many people thou plenty have had to shell out a lot more.
The bigger issue with next gen is power, if nvidia are going stupid well energy prices atm are not good come april, my bill for the year is going up 30% year on year.
I think it's something people will think more about than normal.
the 3090ti coming out this late at that kind of price i see as pointless far better to wait at this stage if you wanted one, saying that a 4090ti ouch that is going to cost a bucket and i only see rich getting one who really has 4k to spend on that kind of hardware.
I was so super lucky getting my 6800XT for gratis so i'm going to use it as long as possible as i simply can't afford a new card anytime soon not at these prices, it's been said for years were getting priced out of our hobby and for me it's really hitting home now.
As for the 3090ti performance it's going to be what 5% that is a lot extra for so little more, but i was never in that market always upper mid range like most people the folks that went into 80 series usually made use of them for longer than most or sold each gen and spent, but the way these prices are that extra spend is getting bigger.
