Personally I would forget the 40 series unless you waste money on gaming, and just concentrate on waiting for these to sell for bugger all. They are still amazing cards, and can run games amazingly well. Something people seem to keep forgetting when they forget about a gen and move onto the new one.

What people also fail to see is that "even if" these retail at MSRP by some freak miracle, those who actually pay their own bills will be hard pressed not to wince at their new heightened electricity bill. I just dont see the benefits of a card that excels by the logic of "make it more power hungry"

Yup totally. I have had to double my payments to my energy company recently ! My balance (I like to have a lot due to my autism) was being eaten by bills.
Thankfully I am used to having nothing at all, so it wasn't so hard to do. Have had to stop buying luxuries though and just try to fix things.
TBH? most of the people who bought the 3080 Ti and above don't need to worry too much about bills. That said it doesn't make them less crazy.
You're spot on though. Like cars, any one who buys these needs to seriously consider and research the actual cost to run.
