With all currently available info it could be anytime really, It could be next month for all we know, Now is not a good time to buy a 2080 Ti.

I highly doubt it will be May. Given we are in May now and they have not even announced anything yet. That said there is apparently a Keynote on May 14th.
Even if they launched on that day shipping logistics would be a problem IMO. I'm not saying buy a 2080Ti (because it's not worth it over a 2080s) but yeah I expect even if they launched it today it would be a while before we see stock.

If you want to waste money twice in one generation you should definitely purchase 2080ti for 1100 - 1400£ Your best move now is to sell 2080 super for decent money before they announce 3000 series and make your 2080super worth 250-400 at the most. Wait for next gen and purchase 2080ti standard performance with much better ray tracing for 500-700£ Downside being you might be without a gpu for 2-3 months.

Maybe they will drop the Titan first though like last time? who knows?
Agree, I don't think NVIDIA is in any rush to release next-gen consumer graphics cards... They already left us waiting for over 2 years... AMD and Intel aren't applying any pressure as well, and really would make no sense to launch a product amidst the kind of Crysis we're at now, many just aren't buying, some, really can't buy.

If they announced it now they wouldn't release it till later this year. Which then begs the question of why announce so early and give AMD the spotlight later for their own announcement? Nvidia have a history of waiting till AMD is ready then totally taking their thunder. Just because they can.
With the professional/HPC environment they need less volume so currently it makes more sense to release a low volume high margin product.

Nvidia can do whatever they want. Launch before, after, at the same time it does not matter. They will probably demolish AMD in every single aspect of the new GPUs. Price/performance AMD maybe gets something.
Nvidia basically invented Realtime Ray Tracing. They are lead designers of pretty much everything. They have 2 years or more of working with developers, real-world testing, implementation, etc. Everything that has been developed in the past 5+ years was developed on Nvidia hardware with the help of Nvidia. AMD, on the other hand, has nothing. Maybe a few products in labs. 9 months after the launch of the 5700 series, their drivers are still a dumpster fire and that is with technology that they have worked with for more than a decade. How will they cope with completely new tech that they have no first-hand experience I don't know.
I love AMD CPU division they rock hard, but AMD Radeon Group is years behind Nvidia. Sad as it is that is the real situation.

Remember when I talked the other day about coders and so on? well people like this are every bit as bad.

As for AMD being years behind? that doesn't matter. Until we start seeing games that can use RTX properly (well, the tensor cores) and cards that are powerful enough not to have to take a 20 year step back? it may matter. However, for the current gen of games (without RT) AMD has more than enough now and in store.
I bought a 2080Ti for its performance, as I know for a fact it can easily match the next gen consoles. Which means I will be safe until that changes again. That's all I care about. From the sound of it AMD will be able to match those numbers, so again that is all that will matter.
Even with AMD's total clusterfudge of things over the past few years they still have a 25% market share. Which is really good, seeing as there is no other competition.
"Beating" people is not what puts food on the table. It's not the bread and butter. Apple just released a set of $700 wheels to go on their PC that make no sense at all. Do you think they will earn money from them? nah. It's not about that at all. It is a halo product, done simply to pee on someone else's patch. Free marketing, because they know that even negative word is word. Word gets around.
It's the same reason Nvidia release Titans. Not to make money. They do it just to get people talking about "That stupid £2500 GPU".
Have you noticed Nvidia and Apple do not sponsor any one on any YT channels? they don't pay much for advertising either. These halo products do it all for them.

Not to take anything away from Nvidia, but it is worth noting that Microsoft's DXR API came before Nvidia was ready to reveal Turing. Hardware can take years to design, and AMD had a lot to fix with its consumer GCN lineup before they bolted ray tracing onto the end of it.
Nvidia had the money and expertise to be the first on the block with raytracing, but at that time AMD was already working on the next-generation consoles and their raytracing feature set. AMD just didn't have the money or engineering time to rush something out there, especially on 14/12nm.
When RTG was formed, which was shortly after the Fury X launched, AMD knew that they needed to fix things. The result of that work was RDNA/RDNA 2. As much flack as Raja Koduri gets for Vega, it's RDNA that was his baby. There's a reason why he told RTG to stick to the roadmap when he left.
The question now is if RDNA 2 is good enough to compete with Nvidia's next-generation products. AMD's promising a 50% increase in performance per watt over RDNA 1/Navi, and that's a clear sign that RDNA 2 is going to be a big deal for AMD.
What I hope is that RDNA 2 will be enough to lower prices and give consumers a lot more performance for their money. If RDNA 2 makes Nvidia work for its money, it will be a good result for gamers.
