Oooh could be a bad move for team green imo, basically their saying go G-sync or go home (give us your moneys).

I imagine Nvidia have been looking at how to implement it and will wait until the infrastructure/Adaptive Sync monitors is widely available. So perhaps in another year ot two.

If Nvidia announced this now they would lose a lot of G-Sync monitor sales. We also need to know how well Adaptive Sync works compared to G-Sync, no many people have really seen it working.

I wonder if this means they will no longer be updating their displayport support. As in they stay on the current 1.2(not a) standard for a long ass time.

Why would they support it, there are no AS displays yet. If they choose to support it in the future, they can do so with a firmware update. The physical connector is the same.
Besides they have hdmi 2.0 with 60hz in 4k now.

whats wrong with supporting some extra features for the customers :( I was really hoping to go with the 900 series successor, hopefully they decide to support it in future, as I have no intention of pay the premium for one of those g-sync monitors.

Are adaptive-sync specification monitors really going to be just normal monitor price? Personally I can't see that happening for quite a while by which time nVidia will probably be down with it too. Seems like unsurprising and inevitable news to me.

It's all just hype anyways, if you have a good machine you won't ever need this tech, it is best on lower end stuff. I have never had tearing or stuttering...ever...on anything.
The demos are set up to exaggerate a worst case scenario.
G-sync or AS are not anything that would interest me in the least, why bother?

Yes you have had tearing and stutter, but you have never noticed it.

Everyone gets it, but this stuff does help to cut it or illiminate it.

My next monitor will be the Acer 4K Gsync monitor, and the reason I am waiting for the Gsync monitor is simply because it will make it a smoother experience when a game, doesn't run above 60fps at 4k.

So Nvidia aren't going to support something that is going to be a standard on monitors anyway.

So basically they are saying "we are not going to support this free thing built into your monitor but instead you can buy a monitor with our proprietary Gsync for more money instead."

Good guy Nvidia strikes again.

Why always so harsh on BB1 :D Just posting based on their knowledge

Anyways, I believe a majority of consumers would actually be using HDMI over DP anyways, as it supports more devices such as T.Vs and all.

It's a very silly move from Nvidia tbh.

Not supporting the new displayport standard is borderline lunacy I would have thought, given it's a video standard that's gaining popularity.

You'd figure they would adopt it but in their drivers disable it or something. Don't know but not adopting the newer standards isn't a great idea. Its not just the AS that's new.. you got better bandwidth which helps at 4k. That alone should make them wanna jump to it for their own Gsync.
