Nvidia RTX 3080 Founders Edition Review

A question.

What sort of overclock does the 2080Ti you are using have?

Edit. Sorry I see it's not overclocked.

Shadow of tomb raider benchmark 4k

In shadow of tomb raider 4k max ray tracing no dlss, why does 3080 oc have double the framerate of 3080 non oc? Typo?

It's about what I expected, Not very impressive to be honest considering the 2 year gap since the last big Nvidia launch.

20-30 percent, exactly as predicted.

Noticed last night that 2080Ti prices on Ebay have shot up by £150 or more.

I would think its stock. Would expect it to be labelled OC if anything. Those are some impressive numbers. Lets hope I maintain my good deal 3090 now :D

I will have to wait and do some guessing then with regards to how much it beats my card/s by. I don't know what the Aorus can do yet but I know my KP is fast.

If I look at that for example.

And then I compare it to what I get? well I get a min of about 130 FPS. And I mean, a total min, with it usually around 150 or higher, and as high as 180 in parts.

I am beginning to wonder if these "2080Ti at 320w" calculations are quite accurate tbh.

Put it this way, I'm glad I panic bought that 2080Ti for £490 with a block on. I sold my old block for £45 (well, new one that didn't fit) so theoretically it owes me £450 with a Barrow block on.

Checked Ebay last night. Decent air 2080Ti are now £700 and above. Then you go to Nvidia....

Thing is though, people are not impressed and they are entitled to that. But I always like to compare apples to apples so the 3080 over the 2080, the numbers look good.

now if the 3090 was only 30% more than the 2080ti then yeah I would be very dissapointed. But I honestly think the numbers we see hear right now, for the price point of under £700 (going by my 8000kr price) is actually not bad at all.

And we often see drivers mature allowing improvements. AMD need to get their cards out asap before buyers continue onwards with Nvidia. The time is ticking now

As per normal ttl is the first review I watch, tbh there is very little to say other than that adaptor still stinks as ttl said add some lenght and it'd be fine.

I think if the £649 holds on the 3080 it's a decent deal, but will you be able to get one tomoz that i have doubts over they are going to sell so fast and tbh and i don't blame people.

I will wait for AMD but i don't expect a better deal than Nvidia's tbh so if you got the cash sure buy one no real reason not too either of the teams cards are going to be decent but Nvidia are here now and little timmy will scream if he don't get one :D

Apples to apples, it is good. But it's not exactly worth switching if you have a 2080 or even a 2080 Ti. Unless you're one of those people who just wants to have the latest and greatest.

It's pants as far as I am concerned.

After watching a few reviews I found the important one. You know? the one running an AMD CPU like 80% of his viewers asked him to do. I then found the only game in the 14 he tested that I actually have and play, and.

And the total over 14 games was 21%.

So to me? it's a bust. I can only assume that once again Adored TV was correct. What I mean by that is -

Jen - Samsung 8nm is total crap but it's nice and cheap at $25 per die less. Let's double down on the cuda cores !

The only issue with that of course is that at resolutions lower than 4k that stupid amount of CUDA cores struggle to find anything to do, so sit idle (see also, 1440p results).

Now let's forget that I have a very shiny and ludicrously expensive 2080Ti for a moment and concentrate on the one I just paid £490 for with a Barrow block on. I will bench that ASAP.

Friendly reminder, AIB stands for ad in board. So technically the founders edition is an AIB. ;) If you say it in a video, it might be a bit confusing for people who are not familiar with the forum (miss)use of the term for board partner cards. Sorry for my OCD.

Noice review love the return to mental details and overly long conclutions, fair to say my 1080Ti will soon be retired and a tasty 3080 in it's place..... unless Big Navi proves itself. I love these GPU waiting games.

rumours arising that nvidia might enter the CPU market. Interesting times ahead. Clearly the mobile market is the main target, but imagine the desktop segment being attacked

Well that made comparisons easy, having the same 2070 OC in my system and mostly it doubles my fps on 1440 and for £649 that doesn't seem a bad deal, but looking I have a feeling it's going to be nearer £900 for aib

Wait for AMD, "Leaks" had it being around 20-30% faster than a 2080 Ti which would put it on par with a 3080, This could turn into a price war if true.

You need to remember that a large factor in why the 3080 is "so fast" is the G6x. Take that away? yeah we will see with the 3070.

TBH if AMD even have a competitor to the 3070 they are laughing, as that is the card that will light up sales.

The higher you go the more niche it becomes. 1% will own a 3090.

I'm in no rush Crusader kings 3 doesn't push my pc at all :D , and I'm considering there will probably be a 3080ti at some point

I don't think there will be a price war. At all.

Fact is Nvidia used Samsung, which instead of $70 odd per die like the 2080Ti on TSMC cost $25 less. Per die.

They also spent tons of money on their FE coolers to set up a perfect bait and switch. IE - try getting one for that price. There could be ten for all we know.

AMD on the other hand used TSMC. Which means that their prices will be the same as Nvidia's. Unless of course they feel like committing financial suicide, which they won't.

They should be much better behaved all around. Good gaming figures, lower power consumption and less heat etc. That comes at a cost mate.
