Nvidia reveals their RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards

last time i checked 8gb ram was far cheaper than 100, so i'd say the 16gb version isn't a good deal anyways.

A 16gb kit of it costs about £30.

Hilariously I can even see the logic behind it too. Jen thinks that if he releases a card that people know does not have enough vram he can then double skank people by ramming them in the bum for double that amount.

Not one card I have seen them release in years has been well balanced. They’re all not enough or far too much.

a gamer who still has all his marbles will buy a console instead.

that´s at least 560 euro street price for the 16GB models.
for a 60 class card. :D

Although manufacturing costs are probably higher than they used to be back then, which I believe plays a role in the pricing today.

Nah don't believe that horse crap dude. Greed. It is greed 100%.

I've heard every excuse known to man with stuff like this. It's the financial climate, it's chip shortages, it's the exchange rate, it's inflation etc. It's all BS dude.

It's greed plain and simple. Nvidia have increased their margins on every single gen since Fermi.

I highly doubt that GamersNexus is telling "horse crap" to their viewers... They are known for their facts and trust, hence I dont believe that they are lying. Doesnt mean that they are, just highly doubt it.

It's cost cutting as you only need to look at the size of the bus width i.e less silcone taken up.

they want the smallest dies at the best price they can get, hence why they mark it up and then reduce until people buy them.

It's all out there in facts dude. ALL of it. Inflation is 11% or so. In 2011 you could buy a GTX 590 for *checks* $699. For a GPU with TWO cores on it, a SLI interposer chip and twice the VRAM as a normal GPU. So, let's see what that would cost today. $947.

The 4090, for a single GPU card costs TWICE that much. Why is that? I will tell you. In 2011 Nvidia used to charge about 30% on top. That changed later to 40%. Then 50%, then 60% then 70%.

IE, absolutely everything they make is marked up by 70%. They even mark up things they don't make by 70%. When someone like, say, MSI buys a GPU die from Nvidia they mark it up 70%. However, they also force MSI to buy VRAM *with* it. They are not allowed to go to say, Micron, and buy their own, nor double the amount without Nvidia getting their 70%.

This is why EVGA left them. Mostly because by the time Nvidia had shafted them *AND* not allowed them to charge whatever they wanted for a custom GPU by setting RRPs they were making a pittance. The only one making money now? Nvidia. Nvidia have destroyed their board partners by doing this. They make their own GPU, right? then they put 70% on what it cost THEM to make. Problem is they are then selling those kits to their board partners, making 70% on that, setting a low "No middleman RRP" and then expecting companies like MSI etc to actually make money.

So I don't give a crap what PC jesus says or thinks. Because I have the facts (it is all out there as blatant as morning). And yes, production costs etc have risen. IN LINE WITH INFLATION dude. Not by 100%.

It's greed plain and simple, and AMD are just as bad or worse. There is no competition here at all. Just price matching. Funny how YET AGAIN AMD have waited for Nvidia to go first so they can snuggle their prices right on up with them.

We've had this discussion here a thousand times. EVERYTHING else in the tech space has fallen in price (TVs, phones ETC). Yet just GPUs alone are costing a crap load more than ever right? :D don't fall for it dude.

Not only, just recently seen the costs of an new motherboard... Absolutely outrageous. Gives you an even bigger heart attack than the GPU prices lol.

That is what EVGA wanted to do in the GPU space. IE, keep bolting on stuff and charging a fortune for it. But Nvidia scuppered them by setting a RRP.

But yeah, that is exactly what happens in the mobo space. Same as the cooler space, and so on. They bolt on some more tat, and the price keeps soaring, until you end up with $1000 mobos. And the funny part is $800 of that is crap no one needs. Just all about bragging rights.

To be honest, I just cant see when looking at the product images, where those extra 600-800 dollars have gone into it. That is due to the board shouldnt cost more than $200, hence me saying extra 600-800.

But yeah, totally agree that is useless and completely wasted money on something youll never use nor need. Absolutely ridiculous.

nvidia is hoping that the noobs will buy their new GPU´s.

when you know that the new generation of 4060 cards is not even 15% faster, some models offer less ram... why would you consider buying this crap?

i rather buy a cheap 12 GB 3060 then a new 8GB 4060.

no matter if you buy a RTX 4060 or RTX 3060.. you will have to make visual compromises to get to the framerates you want.

so i rather save money today and hope that the next genration will be better value. and if not ... i spend money on a console next time

Because somewhere at some point board makers started to think* that it was all about bragging rights. And thus, started to add on pointless things and upping the price each time. Let me give you an example. Big mess off machined heatsinks. Board covers. large slabs of metal on the back of the board which do nothing, and you don't even see. Huge ass VRM coolers that are just not needed, and so on.

In the middle of all of this they start adding in things like 10g network cards** or dual 5g network cards*** and so on. All of these increase the price again and again and again. And each time they do? the board makers add on a price/profit for them.

And that is how it has happened. No one needs a LCD on their friggin motherboard for god's sake.

* they were wrong.
** 99% of people will never ever use this, as their router and so on will be capped to 1gb.
*** see above. Unless you spend out the backside on switches, a new router, cables, ETC ETC you will never use it.
