Nvidia reportedly halting RTX 4070 shipments to partners amid low demand

oh lmao they are trying everything huh? this time? false scarcity.

Absolutely anything whatsoever other than dropping prices. Jen has seriously backed himself into a corner with his shareholders now. And my heart bleeds, NOT.

Silly little d1ck head.

That's kinda gross. Shorten supply to inflate their value. I know it's done all the time, but it never ceases to gross me out.

It's more about limiting the amount of stock that has to sit in factories and at retailers. It costs money to store things, and it makes sense to produce things at close to the rate that they are purchased.

This isn't about artificial scarcity, it's about optimising the rate at which the GPUs are shipped. It costs money to store things, and Nvidia still needs to sell that silicon.

It's not about creating scarcity, Hardly anyone is buying them as they are a terrible deal.

It doesn't make sense to keep making them when stock at retailers isn't going down.

The store closest to me got 10 in on launch day, How many have sold ? None... and I'd wager places like OCUK and Scan have had silly low levels of sales on them too.

Just imagine how much 4060/ti stock they are going to have.

The only ones who will buy them will be the ones who don't know any better but I'd hazard a guess and it will be even more dire than the current 4070 situation, The only Ada card that makes any sense at MSRP is the 4090, The rest are truly terrible value for money.

I feel most will wait for the next gen, but at least from nvidias side i don't expect the prices to come down more like go up again if they move to a new node.

yea the 4090 for what it is and does is the only card they have worth getting, but i'd not buy it myself as it's too far up the stack, the 4080 is viable as at least it has some vram.

but there prices are just not realistic for most people, so if amd gets it's mid range out at far better prices they will sell or people will go Intel.

I honestly don't feel nvidia care too much thou of course they want to sell what they make but this isn't where the key profits are coming from.

No dude it actually is. I just watched a video on it explaining it, and it totally is.

It's a tactic Nintendo have used in the past when their hardware is getting old. How do you keep charging the same price? easy, make it harder to find. Which pushes the price up due to scarcity.

Why is he doing this? easy, to keep the prices high. Last September he made a statement saying that GPU prices would no longer ever fall again. IE, what he was saying was that no matter how many they sold they would not cave into pressure and start selling them cheaper. So this all rings true.

Like I said briefly this is because he has backed himself into a corner. Mostly with his shareholders. Kinda like "Hey look how much I can milk my customers, pls spend more on shares thx m8 gr8". The problem is that once you do that it is extremely hard to back track and start making far lower profits, as your shareholders will have none of it.

Now look dude, you would think that if something wasn't selling very well? easy right? just drop the price yeah? same as anything else in the world. Only this c**t has super duper Nintendo tricks up his sleeve. False scarcity to go along with price fixing with AMD and god knows what else the nasty little goblin has been doing for the past five years or more.

What I am saying is? always, ALWAYS think the worst. Especially of corporations like this. That way if they ever do something for the consumer? you will appreciate it. However, what it will also do is stop you buying things like the 4090 and getting a sore bum.

Problem is your age group has been taught purely that social status is absolutely and utterly everything, and that you can't possibly look worse than the next guy. I feel privileged to have played on building sites and had absolutely bugger all because I have never fallen into that stupid, pathetic state.

It's a much happier way to live dude. I promise you.

This is good because now we know that Nvidia has absolutely no intentions of fixing their pricing. Not now, and not in the future, most likely.

If AMD was smarter, they would size this golden opportunity. But they're not. They want to milk us dry as well.

They both have a big shock coming.

Mining + pandemics are not sustainable. They can kick and scream all they like but the fact is PC gaming isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and never was. It’s fraught with issues and always has been. I’ve seen one game “just work” in the last decade and that’s Dead Island 2 and that’s only because it was made a decade ago lol.

It was one of the most popular things in the pandemic which makes perfect sense. People are at home and unable to go out. When they could? They bought bikes. The entire bike industry is now on its ass. How they ever thought they could make this sustainable and make comments to their shareholders saying so is a mystery.

Nvidia still have not solved their biggest ever issue, and that is that basically they are a one trick pony. They’ve tried time and time again to get into other ventures and totally failed.

AMD simply just don’t care any more and that’s because they have multiple other ventures which they are now the world leaders at . The very mere fact Radeon comes close is absolutely hilarious when you consider how tiny it is in comparison and how they are kicking intels ass in the CPU world.

Just imagine how much 4060/ti stock they are going to have.

With the amount of leaks on them I think their launch was pretty imminent, but NVIDIA will probably push back the launch of 60 class for a while, and then launch them with lower stock than the 4070 as they'll not sell either.

Well they have also taken a huge battering before they are even out, with lots of reviewers etc all doing articles on how 8gb is just no longer enough. So if they dared to make tons of them they would be DOA any way.
