Nvidia releases performance benchmarks for Mass Effect Andromeda

If this is for 1080p then it's the most unoptimized Frostbite game to date. Battlefield 1 looks better than Andromeda and it can run on virtually anything at high settings and still maintain 60fps. If the game can maintain 30fps at 1080p on a PS4 then these results should be from a 4k test.

Why is the 700 series listed and not the 900 series? Those charts are classic Nvidia. At least they start at 0 this time and not 59 fps.

According to the February, most recent, Steam hardware survey the primary display resolution for 43.23% of the steam population that takes part in the survey is still 1920x1080 with it increasing by 4.13% over January.

Steam hardware survey

The numbers aren't really that skewed towards the proper gaming community. So many are people that just play Football Manager on a laptop or a few other games. Not really the market Mass Effect on PC. I'm sure the % of people with 1440p that would play this game is much higher.

I will admit that the numbers are not 100% accurate since not all gamers use Steam and some people play DOTA and the like on their laptops but they should be close enough to give an idea.

P.S. 2560x1440 is only 1.81% according to the survey I somewhat doubt their are so many people using their laptops for gaming that they lead to such large difference between 1440p and 1080p.

Of course the game in question here is exclusive to Origin on PC so the info from Steam isn't exactly helpful.

I assume the recommended system requirements listed are for 1080 60fps High/Ultra settings in which case if I was a gambler I would bet this is supposed to be for 1440p, though I could be wrong since EA doesn't say what settings and frame rate you can expect with the system requirements.

I doubt it's much higher, chances are it's more to do with affordability a 1060/480 will run most games at 1080 to go to 1440 you get into more expensive gpu and system to run it, you don't need a 1080ti and 4k to be part of the gaming community or enjoy a mass effect game

If you have a 1060 or 480, why wouldn't you use 1440p? That's basically what they are for:p

Because I have a perfectly good 1080 144hz and can max games out, at 1440 not all games run at 60fps and give it a year or so and even fewer will run maxed out, the longevity of a 1060/480 will be @1080. why waste money on what I don't need

All mine do:)
That argument isn't really valid.
Every card will eventually only lasts at 1080p. So why bother worrying when it's perfectly fine for now and a year or two? You'll upgrade before then anyway, or should if you want to play AAA titles

you forget what GPU I had in this system b4 an R9 270 and before that a 6870 I don't upgrade that often joys of being a parent

well dunno how steam records but i have a 1440 and most games on steam i have to change my res to 1080 just to play the damn early access never seeing a full release games.

I think Steam records the Primary Display Resolution based off what resolution you have your monitor set to, in the OS not in-game, when it does the survey. I tested this by changing my screen resolution and then opening steam and went help>system information in which it told be my Primary Display Resolution was 1280x720, what I changed my resolution to for this quick test (if steam recorded it based off native resolution then it would have still said 1920x1080).

Of course they probably have it set up to record the data this way since most people probably have their monitor in its native resolution anyway and so you normally wouldn't have a discrepancy between the recorded data and the monitors native resolution.
