Limitations for TWW on launch? This would certainly backup the DX12 performance deficit they have I posted yesterday in the game.

What does this "Legacy Driver Support" thing actually mean? Sure, I have to download much older drivers for my ancient GTX 275 for example - current drivers are not compatible. However, the driver I download for my GTX 680's (368.22) are the exact some ones used for my friends GTX 970's.
So, I download ONE installer, yet it updates both my system and my friends system to 368.22, yet I run 680's he runs 970's. Basically the "legacy" driver I need, is still bundled in the main download it seems.
Previously, when something went "Legacy" like my GTX 275, support would stop at a given driver version, which was 341.92 for the GTX 275, newer drivers won't install on that PC.
Note: My PC with the ancient GTX 275, the one with the 680's and my friends with the 970's are all on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I assume by "Legacy" they simply mean no tweaks for older GPU's? A perfectly valid driver is still present in the WHQL package after all.

I think it just means no additional features. Probably just updated game support and if lucky SLI profiles. But no performance improvements I'd guess

That's certainly my take on it, though I guess 5, 6 & 700 series cards will slowly drop out of the current releases all together, as my old GTX 275 has. Not a problem of course, in fact I'm surprised NV don't have a different driver for each series really, though I suspect the current method is far easier for them to maintain.

Wait a second. The 1080 is not for sale yet. The 780 is only one generation behind what's for sale on the shelves right now. They are sweeping them under the rig pretty quick these days.

The information about the legacy support is a remnant from the old 310.xx driver saying that Nvidia was dropping support for the old 6/7 series (gtx7800 etc.).

Might want to try re-reading those release notes guys.
What nVidia calls the 6 and 7 series means the 6000 and 7000 series, which were as noted no longer supported in the 310 and later drivers.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the GTX 6xx and GTX 7xx series. That same message has been in every nVidia driver release note for years. Here's the R310 beta release notes from October 2012, when the GTX 6xx series were still brand new and the 7xx cards hadn't even been announced: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/310.33/310.33-winxp-desktop-release-notes.pdf
The same exact text is on page 6.
