Nvidia PhysX System Software Updated

I think I've updated some piece of software on my system at least once a day for the last week, including bios, chipset drivers, gpu drivers (the latest betas) etc...still its progress, looking forward to getting home to try these

Any1 care to explain to me how the likes of nVidia/Ati can persistantly produce driver sets for XP/Vista/32/64/etc, regarding their own hardware - the hardware they make. And some companies - even makeing their own stuff, fail in the driver area ? I know the scales can be larger and smaller, but u make the darn things.

I`m looking at sound people mainly.

I think it partly comes down to Nvidia and ATI being in a constant performance battle for that top spot and having the most optimised drivers helps clinch that. On the other hand certain companies (you know who I mean) aren't in so much heavy competition and the cost effectvieness of it is lower. Also some companies have got your moneyand don't care after that...grrr

Creative comes to mind. I don't have sound on my desktop in Ubuntu so my Ubuntu installation to all intents and purpose is kind of pointless. I'm currently shopping for a new sound card...

It's quite annoying considering it's such a solid sound card under Windows.

I just played warmonger for the first time...for a free game how good is that? Physx is quite good fun, but I wouldn't buy a game for the fact it has it.
