Nvidia Partners Discontinue The GTX275

OOOO kay now that's something I don't understand. Those two cards were about the only thing keeping sales away from the 5800 series, especially because they were still better value :/

Hopefully its not a similar situation to when the 9800GX2 was discontinued because the newly released GTX280 was slower and more expensive...

i smell a re branding coming along soon!

Or atleast a crazy unjustified rant regarding something.

I usually smell a rat when an nVidia bit of news says "many" rather than naming the corps. I mean there aren't that many gfxcard companies total.

Off the top of their heads, and without spending time looking stuff up, I'd grant the average reader 8, 10 at the most. Even if u let them browse some stores ~maybe~.

If u think 'many' of those, u think one number - if u think 'many' of the 30/35 or so that ~technically~ some1 could come up with, that's another figure that paints a different picture.

If we have a fifth as many, the average person is thinking 2 out of their 10, argueably called 'a couple', which is different to 'many'.

I'd be looking for names attached to those claims.

I'd move the partners that also do ATI cards to the top of the list tbh. No Nvidia only partner in their right mind is going to discontinue one of the best cards they have.

Things is also, in addition, is that the partners are said to have confirmed the information. In which case, we should know who they are.

Something that does bear consequence, is places like North America routinely get pished off at the lack of availability of hardware. On the flip side, they don't understand the complaints from the likes of Europeans at some of the hardware they get that they don't. Release timings and so forth.

Going back to the number of manufacturers not supplying retail, if it's the likes of ECS, Stores, Force3D, Jaton, Jetway and Diamond - with all due respect to them - who's going to notice outside of Asia and N.America ?

If it's a case that they have an agreement to supply under contract XFX so many units, or priority on availability. If XFX are demanding full stock due to sales, they need to honor the agreement. Or perhaps MSI or ASUS as they're doing some custom cooling mount. - who knows.

Last time we heard XFX were dropping nVidia or had a beef with them, it just turned out they were dropping exclusivity.

Some1 knows who's dropping these lines tho, cos there is conformation.
