Confirmed by Dailytech that Nvidia are pushing 65nm technology into portable products:
TSMC’s first 65nm eDRAM product is an NVIDIA graphics processor for handheld products – the GoForce 5300. "The efficiencies of the embedded DRAM process allowed us to raise the bar for features found in mainstream cell phones,” said Michael Rayfield, general manager of the handheld division, NVIDIA.
NVIDIA’s GoForce 5300 is not the only eDRAM-endowed product manufactured by TSMC. TSMC also manufacturers AMD’s Xenos GPU found in Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which also features eDRAM technology and currently manufactured at TSMC on a 90nm process. Xenos will receive a 65nm die-shrink later this year.
Mav's Comments:
The race for 65nm desktop gpus is on!! Xbox 360 looks to be the front runner of mainstream products to receive the full 65nmm treatment, that particaulr GPU sits somewhere inbetween X1800 and X1950 in terms of technology which suggest that AMD could release 65nm X9150's in the near future also.
Nvidia are pushing ever closer with mobile technology.
IT's all sooo exciting!!!
