Interesting to see that Nvidia are bringing out their newer 800 series at the end of this year but sadly they will still be on the 28nm process which means I will be sticking to my rusty old 780 Ti for 1 more generation.

Hopefully we will see 20nm mid next year but knowing Nvidia they will want to milk their "New" architecture with endless revisions like we've seen with the 600 and 700 series both being pretty much the same chips under the hood.

Here is the main snippet of news gathered so far -

According to SweClockers, NVIDIA is planning to launch its new desktop GeForce GTX 800 series no sooner than fourth quarter this year.

SweClockers are among the most accurate sources of NVIDIA leaks you can find. Today they report that second generation Maxwell will be released in fourth quarter. It is believed that the launch of GeForce GTX 880 and GeForce GTX 870 is set somewhere between October and November.

First GeForce GTX 800 graphics cards are expected to launch on second generation Maxwell architecture, which is supposedly updated with ARM cores.

From what we’ve learned NVIDIA has completely canceled GM100 chips. Full scale development is now focused on GM200 parts.

Leaked import-export data from Zauba already revealed that NVIDIA is preparing GM204 processor, which is most likely a successor to GK104. It is said that GM204 would equipped with 8GB GDDR5 memory and 256-bit interface. It could be a mobile variant though. We already covered this story more than a month ago, and we are not really sure, why was it such hot topic this week.

Last, but not least we should mention that GM200 GPUs are still using 28nm fabrication process.

It is highly unlikely we are going to see any 18/20nm graphics processor this year.

It's a shame the Next generation of Video cards are so far off, and won't feature a new process node.

That Being said, Nvidia's current 28nm Maxwell cards (750 and 750Ti), are nothing to be scoffed at. I wonder how much (or little) the GTX 880 will consume.

Well, i'm going to skip that as well if it releases in 2014.
Stop changing dates all the time, i was set on 2015 god damn it.

I wouldn't hold my breath tbh. The author of the article isn't exactly sure themselves.

Something tells me if Nvidia had something new and interesting coming they'd have been shouting about it at Computex. Hopefully I'm wrong, although even if I am I reckon I'll be sticking with my 780 for another while to come; 2016 maybe.

IF they bring out an 880 Ti/Ultra etc... and it is as good as 2 x 780 Ti's then I will get it but I'm thinking that will be the 900 series :)
