By layering LCDs on top of one another. It's already been done with slot machines (IGT USA). Pretty cool too but hella expensive.

Well it's more pseudo 3D but it's darn impressive

They take 2-3 LCDs and the back one has the backing. The two on top are transparent. So basically they all display similar images but they're all different. The top one also has overlays and the HUD for example (one of the slot machines was Tomb Raider and the bonus game worked almost like a FPS).

Very clever IMO.
