Nvidia Drivers GTX 970

I am using the latest Nvidia driver for my Asus Strix 970 card on Windows 10.

However every now and again the screen will go off, but the pc does not shutdown and If I access the pc with remote desktop I just get a blank screen so the pc is running fine.

I have to press the power button and shutdown the pc and reboot for it to come back to life.

When I check the Event Logs at the time of the crash there are no hardware issues just a warning the the display driver has stopped responding and has recovered.

Anybody any ideas on a better driver?

Thanks

Will first off which driver are you using now
If it's not 361.43 it's not the latest one so i'd properly uninstall your current driver and install the new one.

I had a similar issue with Windows 10 and that was one of the reason why i downgraded.

Since i downgraded i've haven't had that issue.

When you say similar how similar?

Sorry just wanting to check as downgrading back to Win 7 is a pain as my pc is used as a backup server for multiple companies also.

The screen used to flicker only ever done it when the system was idling on the desktop but once i was doing something it didn't do it.

Plus overall i didn't really like windows 10 and reason why i don't like it at the time i was using it you had no control of the Windows Updates.

I know most if not all say they love Windows 10 but i can say i really don't.

It's super easy to fix dude:p

I'd try removing the drivers and going back to the second newest ones since the newest ones aren't working for you.

Nope, i'm happy on Windows 8.1, I wasn't impressed bye Windows 10.

My point still stands with Windows 10 NO FREAKING CONTROL OVER THE UPDATES.

To me Windows 10 feels like 8.1 but at least in Windows 8.1 you have control over the updates.

Just grab W10 before the option for a free upgrade is gone. After all we all want DX12.

As for OPs issue.

What connector on the GPU are you using? Dp? HDMI? DVI?

I had several clients contact me about the same issue andwhen they switched to HDMI the issues were gone.

I have taken the 970 Strix back to the shop I purchased from and they got the same results so returned and got a Gigabyte 970 Extreme.

That is working fine apart from I cannot run the OC Guru 2 software to control the LED and overclock.

So until I find a solution I have turned the LED off in Geforce Experience.

Nice upgrade

The Gigabyte extreme is a rather nice card, probably thr best 970 atm. Then again "best" is a bit different for everone.
