I predicted upto 16GB hbm2 and 16nm for quite some time now.. if all seems likely AMD will probably go to 14nm. This will be a pretty interesting gen of cards

It's sure shaping up like that.

I'm planning a GPU upgrade next year from my aging GTX 780, it'll be a great time to be in the market for one.

I plan on upgrading from my Fury X. Probably not a top of the line card since a mid tier card could probably get the same performance as mine now and mostly due to funds for a toon tier card:p

Am I missing something? Why would you "upgrade" from a Fury X to something with the same performance?

Second from top has been the sweet spot for a while as far as bang for your buck. I'll be good for a year or so still so keen to see what the performance is like. Playable, reasonably priced 4K may be with us soon.

I cannot wait for all this sweetness! I was hoping Nvidia unveiled more than they did, it seems more or less repeating? Pity. Top tier here I come - unless it's unfairly priced, then second tier here I come ha ha

Power consumption goes down, newer features, better support for DX12 and beyond including more memory instead of 4HBM1:)
Besides I could probably sell the fury x for as much as a higher end mid tier card and come out even, wouldn't spend a dime:)

Probably a dumb question to most of you, but get a Gigabyte 980Ti G1 Gaming now or wait for a similar one of Pascal architecture?...

I picked up a Sapphire R9 Fury whilst I was in Hong Kong last week for £380..Will do me fine for next couple of years no doubt :)

Well what do you have now? TBH Pascal is still a while away. So a 980ti ain't exactly a bad idea.

Depends on what you have now and if you are happy with it. If not then just upgrade. If you are wait

Sapphire 6950 2GB, got 3 980Ti G1 Gaming's before, all massive coil whine by just idling in windows desktop lol, no load what so ever. I'd understand if it had some load on it, like a game or so, but simply on the desktop?...

Although I do wanna upgrade to a newer, more powerful, cooler and quieter card. Also since planning on going Acer Predator X34 down the line.

I predict the next gen of Nvidia GPU to be medium silicon first (so like the 970 and 980) and those cards will perform around the same as a 980ti, if not more/less.

Then after another six months to a year (depending on what AMD do) they will release full fat Pascal. That's how they seem to be doing it now. So to answer the question? I would get a 980ti or Fury/X because the way Nvidia do things the first Pascal cards will be around the same.

Okay, coolios. Thanks for that dude!.

Well by the time you get the funds to get that monitor after the GPU, they may release the Freesync version that's cheaper. So kinda buy at the same time kinda thing unless you want team green. Then upgrade now.

But won't the Freesync one be the Acer Predator X35? The 35" 1920x1080 monitor? At 200Hz?... Or will there be a different one?.

I've grown into the 980Ti to be honest hehe :p
