Nvidia Announce their GTX 1080 GPU

I really hope Vega can trade blows with this.

I hope so as this card is looking to be quite the killer, Beats 2 x 980's in SLI, 8GB of GDDR5X at 10GHz, 2.1GHz on air and that wasn't even overclocked.

AMD NEED to pull a magic rabbit out of a hat this time round or they could very well be buggered.

On a side note IF the performance measures are true and the OC3D review shows a good 30% upgrade from a 980 Ti then I'll get 1.

For me even at 30% i still wouldn't even upgrade really there are 2 main things (from i watch on the stream) that are an upgrade over the 900 series is improve VR which i couldn't even care less about and improve NVSurround which i don't care about either.

As i have said in earlier post i can't see AMD pulling a magic rabbit out cause there too far behind IMO plus Nvidia will still out sell AMD.

AMD always way over hyped there products so do Nvidia.

So maybe i'll be waiting for the 1100 or 1200 or what ever they will be called at that point.

You make a good point, Even with 30% extra juice it's not really that big of a step, I'd want a fairly big leap over the 980 Ti I have at the moment which only the 1080 Ti will be able to do.

UK prices for maxwell have not dropped yet, I wonder if there will be a pre order period or it will be a first come first serve on 27th

GG, Nvidia. I can't wait for the benchmarks, especially on the GTX 1070! $379 is an amazing price, that's like £260. We Europeans will probably get shafted with pricing again, though. Still, good stuff. I just hope AMD will be able to keep up with Polaris.

Depending on the price I can see myself selling my 2x 970's and getting the 1080.

I think you should wait for the inevitable 1080 Ti, on release these 1080's don't look to be great value especially when you consider they will receive a price cut a few months after release, your not exactly suffering in GPU power at the moment so I wouldn't rush it.

This is what I'm doing.

I made the mistake of getting a 980 when I had a 780 Ti which really weren't far apart from each other, I can see it being the same this time around hence I'm waiting for the 1080 Ti which will probably get released within 6-9 months.

Maxwell cards have not dropped at all yet, you would have thought that immediately after the announcement they would want to clear old stock

One thing that is worth noting is that all of Nvidia's power comparisons were using TFLOPS and not a real world performance metric like 3DMARK.

As we know when looking at AMD and nvidia GPUs, higher TFLOPs don't necessarily mean a higher framerate.

Yeah but that doesn't stop the hype train... Fury X gets over 8TFLOPs,so if you took that value you could say it's not much slower than a 1080, but people buy into the hype, because Nvidia.
Wonder when AMD will make there move now

hopefully, we will see them make a move soon.

This year AMD has been making great strides when it comes to drivers etc. It would be such a disappointment if they don't have the hardware to back it up.
