Nvidia Ampere performance and features leak - RTX speed boost, NVCache and more

Unless it's an absolute rip-off I'm set on buying a 3080. Meaning, if it outperforms 2080 Ti and costs under 800€, going for it.

10-20%. OK, so exactly the same as previous gens then (IE 1080Ti to 2080Ti).

Apparently the RT performance is much better, but with hardly any RT games out there I can't see that selling many of these to people who have 20 series.

I'm not as suspicious as NBD, and do believe they could do that (because after all RTX 20 are the first gen to use it) but yeah, it was more the overall performance jump I was keeping an eye out for.

So I reckon I was spot on with my 3080 being around the same as a 2080Ti. It's how much cheaper they can do that (And no, I'm not counting RT.... Yet....)

Just checked it out. Stock 2080Ti is 15% faster than stock 2080, meaning the 3080 should be bang on what I expect. About the same 3d performance as the 2080Ti.

10-20%? that means 15% where I come from. The RT bit? meh, come back to me when Cyberpunk launches (if it makes good use of it).

It's the price that interests me. Let's see if Nvidia are talking more crap.

To be fair, that will be changing very sharply this Autumn/Winter, given almost all the AAA multiplatform releases will likely be sporting raytracing in order to show off the functionality on the new consoles, and give the price tags some justification.

I have a feeling that early RT on consoles will be an afterthought though. Kinda like nearly all of the PC games launched so far.

For me? not that bothered. Like, the other night I was blasting away in Doom Eternal and I stopped (well, paused or I would have died) for a moment and thought "jees, if this game supported RT you wouldn't even have time to see it!".

Same sorta goes for any fast paced FPS really. IMO? games where it would really shine would be things like Fallout or an adventure/slow paced RPG. Like, where you can actually stop and have a look around. Or slower third person games like Control. That said, when it all kicks off in Control RT becomes a background memory.

Cyberpunk has the potential to be amazing. If it's slow(er) paced. We'll see I guess :)

10-20% meh..... i guess gone are the times we saw 40-50% improvement.

RTX... 4x times faster.. oh that would be nice.... if only there where games i would be interested playing with RTX enabled.

the clown will be running left and right with his stupid leather jacket and tell more BS as usual.

RTX it just works.
well there is only two games i am really interested in... cyberpunk 2077 and age of empires 4.
i guess i don´t really need RTX for either.

cyberpunk 2077 is more about the story and gameplay. i am sure it looks great without RTX.
i sure will not buy a 3000 card that cost 1000 euro just to play that game with RTX enabled in 4K.

Vray on the other hand could benefit from RTX but i will wait until Vray 5 is released before i make a buying decision.

You'll never need RT for anything. It's not even close to being a must have.

I really, genuinely don't buy GPUs for anything other than perf per res. And how long I reckon the cards will last at that res. I bought my 2080Ti for 1440p, I suspect it will last years.

If the best AMD can do is match it +-10% then I know I am safe. If AMD can keep up with the 20 series Nvidia won't be in a hurry to usurp themselves. They've proven that quite clearly since Pascal.
