Nvidia 8 Series

im looking to do abit of an upgrade very soon, basically im hoping to go 4k i was going to buy two titan blacks and pair them with the new Acer 4k g sync monitor ....


long story short do you think its worth buying titan blacks with the 8 series being around the corner.... i say around as we only know theyll be out soon and even then not when the big boys will be out ?

one pro i can see is if the new cards come out i can get a 3rd TB for cheaper in a few months time

My specs are

4930k at 4.5ghz coupled with the RIVE mobo, 16gb of 2400mhz ram
gtx 780 lighting
and a 1000w PSU (should be fine for sli and get a bigger one if i went tri sli)

For gaming alone 2 Titans are simply wasted and pointless.

So gaming on 2 titans at 4k would be worthless? i play BF4, Starcraft, World of warcraft and am really looking forward to trying out the new starwars mid next year?

2 x 780s or 780Ti in SLI would be better and yet still give you 4K, as for the nVidia 8 series we'll know more once they have been 100% confirmed and press released, it might not be worth upgrading from the 780s. I know alot are passing up on the 8 series, and waiting for the 9 series.

I would rather wait till both sides release cards before buying anyway. Prices will drop and after the price drops you would probably be able to buy 2 cards for barely anymore than before the price drop. How it usually is anyway.

a titan black is a 780ti, a 780ti is barely faster than a 780, so why not get another 780 later?

I wouldn't say Titan Blacks are a waste, 780/780 Ti's run out of memory very quickly at 4K and this is when Titan Blacks really help with the extra memory.

If you wait for the 8 series you might as well wait for the series after that and the series after that.

Although generally i prefere nvidia over amd, In this case i would choose amd 295x2 over titan z due to the price and performance

Titan Z costs £2000 on OCUK right now, 2 x TB's cost £1,359

And I would stay clear of the 295X2 to be honest due to the AIO solution which in my mates rig looks messy and it still runs really hot.

Buy a pre-built Titan-Z rig, get a free Titan-Z, sell the rig (as parts or stick your 780 in it). Have two Titan Z's! BALLIN!

True but then you also have to deal with less performance at 4K with the 780's which is what he's going for.

The least I would go for with 4K is 2 x 780 Ti's or 290X's but preferably 2 x TB's.

Those are world exclusive to OCUK and cost £659.99 each, At the moment they are out of stock and if he were to get 2 it would be more £320 more expensive than 1 x 295X2.

I agree. The AIO from AMD SUCKS! Where the tubing comes out of the cooler it's just this big ugly open space, they could of at least used grommets or glands to really clean that up and make it look like it was done by professionals.
