its kind of a given that radiation to generate power is a one way street, once its served its purpose its not exactly something you can throw in the bin and the damage it causes will last longer mankind thats for sure!

we put trust and hope in engineers, specialists and failsafes and its inevitable that one day something will go wrong (Chernobyl and Japan crysis') that will cause severe problems and deaths en masse.

She says that Japan was many, many times worse than Chernobyl? Not from the reading I've done. Chernobyl was such a catastrophy due to nuclear fission still occuring when the explosions happened. In fact they were caused by this and many, many other errors.

In Fukushima (and all modern reactors), each reactor immediately descended all of the reactor's control rods, shutting down all fission reactions within ten minutes. The problems were then caused by being unable to cool the rods down.
