Noob question regarding battery in mobo

After PSU died, I took my PC to service to see if other components are dead too.
To cut the story short, moronic serviceman lost 2 thumbscrews from the side panel and as I've found out just recantly, while installing new PSU, the also took out battery from the motherboard and forgot to put it back :S

Here is my question: Is it possible to start up PC without this battery? IF yes, then does it have any seious drawbacks?

And why the hell did they even take the battery out? I just asked them to check if other components died too, all they had to do is plug new PSU and see if the PC is working or not.
I've removed GPU and intEgrated one had no drivers installed. Do you think thats why they could do it?

Well if they lost it, I would demand a replacement, simple. Either way, those batteries can be bough, it's just a 3V lithium battery, as far as I remember.

You can start up the pc without the bios battery, if that's what your referencing:

It powers your bios to ensure your bios can stay in your configured state so any changes you make will be discarded if you turn off the power to the computer from the wall (without a battery in as bios battery stops that from happening).

You can get one from most shops but tbh, the store should cover it.

Thanks alot for answer :) I will go to the store and get my poperty back, thats for sre.
I jsut wanted to know if the battery is vital. As it's not, I am going to start PC wihout it for now.

Once again, thanks alot :)
