Noob question about overclocking a 2500k

I am over-clocking my 2500k on Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3. Now I was quiet happy with overclocking on the turbo but after reading a few posts and youtube vids I have seen quiet a few people over clocking the Multi and leaving the turbo's.

What is the best way to do it?

Seen as SB OC'ing is pips, try running any AI OC utilities your board may sport and see what kind of specs you get before hitting the toasty zone then incorperate the stable results into the BIOS properly - keep LLC on max always

If you want to push things higher then you'll have to overclock manually. If you are happy with the turbo OC function on your mobo, leave it. There wont be much difference if you manually OC to the same level.

The Auto OC tends to push more volts through the CPU, so with a manual overclock you should be able to achieve lower temperatures. It is very easy to overclock manually, but if your not comfortable with doing it manually the auto OC should be fine as long as the temperatures are reasonable.

Im not sure you guys get what I mean. In my motherboard I have the option to overclock using my multi or I can change each of my turbos on the cores.

You mean the multiplier adjusts for a set number of cores based on workload? That's what I was referring to.

Turbo as in turbo core not Turbo Evo utilities etc
