I got my pc overclocked i was prime95 to check if it was stable, and it just turn off it happen 2 times so i hit the botton on the back to put it back to factory setting. I have a 3930k the core speed at idle is 1.2mhz when running prime95 goes to 3.5 mhz is that norall ? should it not go to 3.8 and at idles the core speed jumps about all over the places?

Is my processor damage ?

sorry about the bad english

You have EIST enabled, so this kind of jump is expected. When you're overclocking it can be good to disable EIST as it can require more volts.
At stock speeds under heavy load on all cores, your processor overclocks itself slightly from a stated maximum of 3.2GHz to 3.5GHz. If your processor is stressed on a single core it shall Turbo up to 3.8GHz on that one core.
Your processor is not damaged, you just need to tinker around more with your settings.

I have my 3770K running at 4.5GHz all the time, but it does create more heat at idle + uses more electricity.

when it was overclocked it sat at 4.2 all the time but it got hot , can i ask what volt on your core are you use and your temps ?

Different architecture, different chip - my info isn't going to be of any use to you, really.
When you're overclocking, disable EIST and Turbo Boost, then go adjust your volts and clocks. When you're doing your initial testing, use Intel Burn Test on its maximum preset, over 10 runs, to test for stability. When you think you've found your highest stable clock/lowest vcore, use Prime 95 to test for 24/7 stability.
Make sure your volts stay under 1.4v, and that your temps do not exceed 80*C on IBT.

well i think i will leave it alone to get 4.2 it was 1.4v and all core 70 to max 83 temps just want to no your volt and temps i know they are no good to me , i just think i am doing it very wrong . I think NOOB would be a good word in this case

1.4v is waaaaay too many volts for 4.2GHz. Either you've lost the chip lottery, or you've got a lot more to get out of your CPU.
What motherboard have you got? Have you flashed to the latest BIOS and installed all the drivers, like the Intel Management Engine?
There really is no benefit to you knowing my volts and such, but, 1.21v @ 83*C on the hottest core. I made the decision that the temperature was acceptable, but I've done that at my own risk.

Asus Rampage 4 gene, and just use the drivers in the box , but to be fair i think i have lost in the chip lottery because try 4.2 at 1.25v , 1.30, 1.35 and not stable at all

Well, bar a dedicated water loop, that's about as good as it gets.
Order some Noctua NT-H1, if you can, and reapply the thermal paste.
But yeah, see if updating everything helps.

sorry one more question do you know anyone on the site that if i send the pc that do it the overclock ? if i need it ?
