Non K sandybridge chips.

Hi guys was wondering if someone could shed some light on this subject for me.

Basically The K sereis chips hav an unlocked multi. and the non K chips have a locked multi from what I can gather.

Now if the non K chips are locked, how is it that the Asus Turbo mode is still able to boost the multi on them to give you a higher clock speed. but you are infact unable to change this multi manualy.

Anybody have the answer as im kinda intreaged about it.

The multi is locked to the maximum turbo boost, so turbo boost will work up to 3.7gh ( that clock speed might be wrong thats just off the top of my head) but you can't increase it any further, where as the K versions the multi is unlocked and can be set as high as you want, within reason that is.

The k versions have better intergrated graphics than the non k version I belive.

I thought the graphics where only on the i7 varients. and the i5's didnt have it? Also I read that if you are running a PCIe GPU then the integrated graphics are basically non exsistant anyway.

All the SB processors have a intergrated graphics processor but the ones in the i5's are better than the ones in the i3's and the ones ine i7's are better than the ones in the i5's. Overclocking is the same with them as well, on the non K vesions you can't OC the IGP but you can on the K versions. Also, to use the IGP you have to have a H67 board you can't use it on a P67 one. Some of the lower model Z68 boards will also support use of the IGP as well from what Bryan said in the preview for the Z68 Gigabyte UD5.
