Project Noir

Case: Lian Li V300

Hardware:

Foxconn mATX board (pending purchase)

2GB DDR2

ATI 3870X2

Zalman 600w PSU

Water Cooling:

DDC Pro with Res Top

XSPC 240mm Rad

XSPC Delta V3 or D-Tek Fuzion V1

Mods:

TBC

With the world going MDPC crazy I thought i'd have a go at it! :yumyum:

Case Modding

Got the case out and had a look how to fit the cooling inside it.

Going to put an XSPC RS240 radiator in the front after i've modded the fans to 120mm instead of those 80mm's.

First problem I can see is the 2 external 3.5" drive bays.

They're going to fowl on any radiator I try to fit in there so i'm gonna have to zip those off.

-------------------------------------

I got a few other bits & pieces done today whilst I had the jigsaw out.

Cut a piece of aluminum to size which will fasten the bottom of the 5.25" drives together after i've cut out the 3.5" bays.

Also cut another piece to size, once i've finished with this it'll accept 120mm fans instead of the tiny 80mm fans.

Got this idea from another V300 build I found on the net.

I've started looking at pump mounting, the Xirex Res top is about 15mm too tall thats that idea down the pan.

Currently looking at mounting an EK 150ml reservoir somewhere and using a normal DDC top instead.

----------------------------------------------

I went out and bought a new pack of Dremel Cut-off Wheels because I couldn't get at the drive bays with a jigsaw.

I've cut the 3.5" bays off the bottom of the 5.25" bays in order to allow me to fit the radiator in the front of the case.

Aaaye, some candy red powder left over from another job and got offered it since it's not something they'd normally use.

This is gonna be one great little pc! Marcus what's the cutout above the PCI slots for? I might just be being absent minded, but i don't get it lol.

@MeltedDuron

To be honest, i'm really not sure myself.

Theres a little plate with perforations on that screws over it, presumably to improve airflow although in reality it doesn't do sod all.

I've scrapped off the stock plate anyway and i'm lasering a new one for it! :D

Heres a little update, nothing major but it shows the little niggles being ironed out.

Tomorrows job is to finish off the plate to fasten the 120mm fans into the case. :)

Not an aweful lot to report at the moment, at least not until the rest of the hardware arrives on Monday / Tuesday.

Foxconn board arrived last week courtesy of Daza, has a blue PCB which will fit in nicely with this build.

Also looking at swapping out the 3870X2 for an 8800GT with a blue PCB. ;)

Are those pics photoshopped? They look amazing

In real life the board is orange, the PCI and ATX connectors are pink and the blue slots are brown :p

Have just updated the 2nd & 3rd posts with all the recent content and i've also got these to show you! :D

Just lasered them from some 2mm Aluminium, they will be sitting above the PCI slots where than random hole is, need to be powder coated first though. :)

PS: Can a Mod/Admin re-name the title to "Noir - Lian Li V300 Build" as theres a glitch in the software that doesn't allow users to change the outer thread title. :)
