Noctua NH-U12P Vs. XSPC X2O Delta WaterCooling Kit

I am thinking of getting a Q6600 or Q9450 (and mobo and ram) in the next few weeks and was wondering what is the best cooling solution of the 2 above? I would be aiming to get either of the chips up to 3.6ghz.

I think I can just fit the XSPC internally in my Coolermaster Centurion 530, and I would also get a Noctua NF-P12 fan to replace the original one.

I am a n00b when it comes to water cooling, hence why I am thinking of getting a cheapo kit. I will test it out on this 939 system before putting in the new hardware.

Thanks in advance.

X20 kit is a very good place to start. Obviously as its got standard tubing sizes etc you can swap out components as you feel the need for increased performance :p

Ye, the new smaller rad means that it will hopefully fit inside my side. I did not want to externally mount it, thats what put me off the XSPC Pro kit. I see XSPC do a chipset cooler as well, would this kit be able to handle an overclocked quad and chipset better than the Noctua NH-UP12P and a thermalright chipset cooler?

If its the 120mm radiator mate I wouldnt run an overclocked quad on it, you want a 240mm rad minimum for an overclocked quad to get decent temps.

For the price difference i'd avoid water cooling unless you can get a 240 or even 360 rad. The cooling capacity doubles from 120 to 240 and triples from 120 to 360.

With a 120 rad you will see no worth while benefit from water cooling compared to a nice £20-40 cpu cooler. These will handle a quad at 3.6 easy.

As for water cooling, the reason i went water cooling is because it was a thing i have always wanted to do, and it is a great experience that i recommend to everyone. As with anything, the more you spend the better the outcome. Imo you should piece together a nice custom kit, witha mix of new and second hand parts. You should be able to get a real nice kit for about £100-120. Though I also recommend the swiftech compact systems, they are great to start with. The Swiftech Apogee drive is a laing ddc pump at 10w which can be modded to a 18w really easily for some added power if you decide to add extra blocks to the loop. The copper base of the unit is the same as the apogee that retails for £35 I think.

This is a quick loop i've chucked together, You'll be able to save money on these forums and on ebay. My first watercooling loop, was also custom made by myself and you get a great sense of stisfaction that you've chosen each part yourself. Real easy to do, just have some common sense and you'll be fine.

Cheers for the reply guys, but this thread is very old. Already got my WC setup (see sig).

Haha, didn't realise that. A noob half way up brought theis zombie thread back to with lol.

What wc did you get in the end?

I bought a NZXT Tempest case and mounted a Swiftech 220 rad in the roof. Changed the top 2 140mm fans to 140mm Yate Loons, and decked out the case with 120mm Scythe fans, also adding 2 Scythe fans to the bottom of the rad (push & pull).

Using a Swiftech GTZ (because of the review on oc3d!) and a XSPC Delta Chipset block, XSPC bay res and DDC Ultra pump with XSPC top.

Then got a Thermalright heatsink for the SB and another for the mosfets.

All in all it keeps my oced Q6600 cool and its not too loud considering I have 7 fans in there.

Wanting to get a new graphics card with a cooler that will take air out of the case as I think that should lower the overall temps too.

Wow, all the threads in this sub-forum really are old.

I might have made the mistake of replying to a few if i hadn't have seen this massive thread revival :P

Glad to see you went with a decent setup first time round, rather than get something you would wanted to have upgraded pretty quickly.
