I'm building some large wooden drying cabinets and need to create constant air movement. Could these axial fans be 'mcgyvered' to run off regular household power but with no connection to a computer; maybe with a Molex to standard 3 pin plug power cord adapter, home made if not available off the shelf. Thanks.

Are you mad! DO NOT attemp this!!! Get a ATX PSU and Rig it by shorting pin 14 "power on" (Green Wire) with any of the COM pin 15 (Black Wire) then you can run the fans safely from that. DO NOT just wire them to the mains electrics they go pop.

Actually if you do wire it to the mains, film it would you :) I haven't seen a fan take off yet. (yet)

Try looking on youtube for "Fun with PC fans" or we could get Tom to do another H100 video only this time using 100 fans.

Thanks y'all. I found this while googling into the wee small hours. In principle should this work. Think I would use wire nuts instead of "cellotape" though, that's a little to mcgyver. (.<)

Just out of curiosity, have you written your will yet? If not, do you have any nice equipment ? TV Stereo ? PC? Mac?

If the answer to that is No I haven't and Yes I do just make it out to Sub @ OC3D

The Guy in the video is the reason we have contents insurance. What a plank!

1st Don't twist and tape wires, Solder & Shrink wrap them.
2nd Get a better understanding of Amperage.

My tutor would have owned his ass for this video.

Thanks. Haven't heard the word 'cellotape' since I left the old country almost 50 years ago. Think I'm just gonna use wire nuts.

at least he used something to step down the voltage and convert it to DC and no just wired it right into the mains :P

Those simple mains transformers for fans work great. I've got three setup for circulating air in the summer. I added an inline switch to make it easier to turn off/on. ;)
