No Video output

Hello everyone!

I've stumbled upon a confusing problem.
I was playing league of legends and all of a sudden my screen goes black and the system hard locks and I get this horrible kinda screeching sound through my headset.

I hit the power button and now no matter what I do I get "no signal" on my monitor.
I've tried swapping GPUs. I've tried swapping DVI cables I've tried HDMI cables I even tried to use my onboard graphics. It all results in the same no signal.

I even tried clearing the CMOS by shorting the pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver as per the manual.

I plugged in a spare PC speaker and I get a single beep on post. All the fans spin I can hear the hard drive spin up.

I also know the monitor works just fine because I'm using it with another PC to post this.

Edit: I cannot even see the bios / boot splash.

System specs:

Intel i5 3570k @ 4.2GHz (1.2 vcore)
8GB G.Skill Sniper 1866 Ram
Gigabyte G1.Sniper M3 Z77
Corsair HX-650 PSU
Corsair H60i
Sapphire HD7950 (also tried EVGA GTX560)

Any ideas of what I can do? I'm out of ideas.

Thanks,
-CG

seems like youve tried every basic combo one would think of if i was looking for a problem my best guess would be its the motherboard if onboard graphics dont even work then im guessing thats your culprit do you have any way of testing your cards on another system with a working motherboard?

Motherboard/PSU have got to have gone. Are you running a surge protector?
I don't know whether faulty RAM/CPU could also cause this, they may do.

Well I decided to try putting in the spare i3 2100 I had in my desk.
And it turns out it works now. So I can only assume something strange happened and killed my CPU? Yeah I'm plugged into a surge protector.

The strange thing is there is a ceiling fan in the room with the PC and any time you turn that on you get a loud pop through the speakers or headset perhaps the electrical in this room is funky?

Anyhow the GPUs the PSU and the motherboard are all alive at least for now.

EDIT: with the i5 i could mash the delete key after i hit the power button and after the post beep i could hit F7, left, enter, F10, left, enter and the bios would set itself to optimized defaults and the PC would reboot itself and I'd hear another post beep but nothing would give any sort of video output.

Now with the i3 everything appears to be fine however I haven't put the other half of my ram back in yet.

Thanks,
