Nintendo's Switch reportedly gains CPU overclock mode to reduce game load times

They've also had a similar mode on the GPU since the launch day patch, the 768 MHz docked and 307.2 MHz handheld speeds can temporarily boost 25% to 921 MHz and 384 MHz, presumably to avoid dips.

Seems like a very dynamic platform all round, should certainly stand the test of time, can see why they're not rushing to bring out upgraded systems, they essentially choose when mid-cycle is. Lets not forget the GameBoy and DS lines are technically multi-decade systems.

I just hope they bring an updated version next year and announce it around christmas this year :( I wanna get it so badly, but if a new version really is coming, then I'll wait.

Yeah, if I didn't already manage to grab a cheap Wii U a few years back to play through BoTW, getting a Switch would probably be a priority over upgrading PC. Truly is the best game I've ever played by a long shot. I loved Ocarina of Time and many other Zelda games growing up but this just absolutely nailed the whole modern open world exploration aspect video games. Played through Odyssey on my housemates Switch too, absolutely perfected the 3D platforming genre in an incredibly charming way if you like that stuff, MK8 was similar. The level of care & detail put into Nintendo's first party games is completely unparalleled in modern gaming.
