News: nVidia's SLI Can Support MORE Than 2x Cards

Impressive but it is the inquirer!!

Seriously - this should rock if its true!

I think the new Unreal Engine might be tested out on one of those sets!! :D

Still, you never know what might happen as some of the motherboard manufacturers might decide to go for the board with more than two graphic PCIe ports.

mm.. if asus do get a board out with 2 6800 ultra gpus on.. imagine if a manufacturer actually did put 4 pci-e slots.. mm.. 4 x 2 = 8 people!

Imagine how much it would cost! *no longer drooling*

lol

Let's have a reality check here boys and girls.

Oh and this:

You can imagine that twice as much pipelines from R420 generation can result with almost twice the performance that we saw with the Radeon X800 generation of cards. This will be creepily fast and one R520 can possibly give two NV45 a run for their money.

If this is not fast enough for you, you will be able to plug two cards in and have 48 or even 64 pipelines rendering your graphics at once. If ATI Multi rendering becomes ready this summer and R520 turns out good and fast, Nvidia's SLI will definitely have some nasty competition.

Coming from money buckets over there!! lol

I do agree though - that would be stupid money!

How dare you call money stupid! My money has an IQ of 350 :D

Its sad really.. it had an IQ of over 3000 a couple of weeks ago :(

this would explain y nvidia used a load balancing system (the load is worked out 50/50 then assigned to each card) for sli instead Scan Line interleave (1 card renders odd numbered lines and 1 renders even numbers) cause even tho wit 2 cards scanline interleaving would give better performance than the load balancing but for 3 cards interleavin couldnt be used (unless the overall amount of lines were a multiple of 3)
