New video card, computer crashing

Since I got my new 7870 I've been having a problem where my computer completely crashes. It happens whenever i play games like Metro 2033, Crysis 3, Planetside 2, and Skyrim. So I'm sure it's whenever i put the video card under heavy load, I have the latest drivers for the motherboard and the video card. I have a thought between it being 2 things, the card itself or the power supply. The reason I say the power supply is because it's 500 watts which is what the video needs and it's quite an old power supply around 6-7 years old but than again it could just be the card.

What are the full specs, if you wouldn't mind?

It may be a driver issue. Which card did you have before this?

Full specs are,
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 OC edition
PSU: Thermaltake Purepower 500W
RAM: 8GB Mushkin Blackline 1600MHz

The card I had before this was a Sapphire Radeon HD 6770.

Have you applied any overclocks to anything? If so, set everything back to default and re-try. There could be a number of reasons for your issues, but its very likely the PSU.

How are you powering the card from the PSU. It requires 2 6-pin PCI power connectors, right? Are you using adapters to power the card?
