Hi, I'm new to folding and I just joined the team, I have an i7-3770k @ 4.5GHz and a GTX 580 a 881MHz and my current ppd is 23500, I was just wondering if this number is a little low since I'm fairly new .
firstly, welcome to the team.
secondly, it all depends on the actual work units, the rig in my sig fluctuates between estimates of 30k and 60k ppd (if i left it on 24hrs a day it would anyways) somedays, so i'd say its not far off
Welcome to the team
The PPD that you are seeing now is around the same that I get with my 3770k at the same clocks as yours. Mereckons you're just experiencing some bad Work Units - it happens an awful lot.
Also, welcome to the forums - glad to have you here.
You just keep folding; Once you get 10 WU's complete with your CPU - then you'll start getting bonus points which will get that number up to around 20-25K on average (sometimes way more if you get lucky)
Oh yeah - the bonus points are more, the quicker you get the WU's done; And if you for some reason don't complete a WU in the time period allotted you stop getting bonus points for a while.
Basically - if you are folding 24x7x365 you'll get the most bonus points; if you are gaming a lot on your rig, or shutdown for 12 hours a day - you won't get many;
I've managed to fix my problem by completely uninstalling and reinstalling the client, now I am able to make well over 33000 PPD without the bonus from completing 10 WUs
coolio bretticus,
i know my average ppd is quoted on the cpu is 33k ppd and the gpu is 20k, but seeing how i don't fold all day i only actually achieve 50-75% of that, but its all points towards the team
