So ive never had the pleasure of installing a new sound card but im trying to today and its not goin so well. i just bought the auzentech x-mystique, put it in and restarted windows, went to put driver cd in and it says something like please plug in the card.... it came with two cables, one is optical and then the other is like a cd in cable and i didnt put either cable on. what am i missing?? did they forget to send a cable or too??

I`ll assume this is a pci card, my immediate concern would be that it doesnt like the slot it`s been put in. Try powering down and moving it prehaps. U should get detection atleast without worrying about cables.

I've had all of the cards in the Auzen lineup, good choice indeed. There are no cables that need to be connected. It does sound like you might have an IRQ conflict and the computer is not recognizing the card but the device already assigned to that channel. Do you have a different PCI slot to try it in as Rast suggested? This is more than likely the problem and should sort you out.

Gratz on the card purchase, very good card indeed.

Nice card SnoMan, but it sounds to me like an IRQ conflict that's preventing the detection of your card. Try moving the card down a pci slot or 2 and see if that makes any difference.

well got it to work and install becuz my ol' lady said to not worry bout the screw since she didnt have any at here place so i didnt worry about it and that was the problem (stupid i know) so i stole a screw from the hd and now it works but the speakers dont...now need help w/them, the one sat. speaker that has vol. control and on/off switch has the cable to the sub and cables to the card and i dont think i have those rite to the card...theres black green and red and the rest of the speakers go in the sub

Green - Front speaker

Black - Rear speaker

Red (usually microphone, I have a salmony colour) - centre

That's for my 5.1

Great to hear you got it working. I had the same problem but when i would power up my computer would lock up. So i moved it down a slot and it works great. If you can use the optical chord to hook up your speakers to the card because you will have better quality sound.
