thats a nice combo for a rig, maybe save a bit more money and buy a proper brand GPU instead of a generic one and possibly a phenom X3 core (8450/8650)? its a bit more dearer but i reckon its worth it.

Gainward being generic? WTF?

What is this system going to be used for, and what budget would you go for max (I was going to go over it, but I would prefer to have that information before I did)?

as lambo said gainward=generic, errrr wtf you smoking?,gainward were a very popular make when they were a green team only maker(the golden sample editions were stonking)they should make some very intersting cards for ATI

Budget is about £250 max, allready have HHDs, CPU Cooler and memory. Using a modified £10.99 case. Will be used for CAD, Internet, and some games when I get time to play them.

a q6600 is not far of the price of a AMD 6000+ and you can get some really decent gigabyte motherboards that are like £50 for a really fancy one :p

An Asus P5K-VM board, Q6600, and ATI 4850 is going to cost you around £290 or so. I think that it is worth spending the extra £40. Otherwise, an E7200 would bring it back to £260 (not really worth it).

How about an Intel system instead?

yep intel all the way for me, good pricing too :yumyum:

pfft, nah ^^

i think you made a good choise with your 6000+

an alternative if you want even more power would be to go with a phenom :)

Abit AN-M2 Micro ATX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £44.64

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2) £76.32

GeForce 8800 GS 384MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) £70.49

Hows it gone Toni?

did you get it sorted? My friends all say Amd, for value, but recently I had thought Intel is dominating. Hope u get it sorted matey.
