Hi, im building a new system for christmas and i thought id ask what you guys think about it before i go and start buying parts.

CPU: Athlon II X4 620

Motherboard: M4A785TD-V EVO

RAM: OCZ Platinum 2GB (2x1GB) 1800MHz

Graphic Card: XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA II 7200RPM

ODD: Sony AD-7241S-0B

Case: Cooler Master Sileo 500

PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power 500W (come bundled with case)

Total: £451

Is this ok? Im dunna be playing games (i want DX11) a little bit of photoshop and sony vegas and allot of browsing the web. I cant really go any higher with the price im on a tight budget. BTW you like the name lol!

k im gettin XFX 5770 1GB instead, adds an extra £15 but it probably worth it lol, thanks for the advice!

good choice.

just a thought if you wanted to save a bit more money on gaphics and still get good performance then a xfx hd4770 is only £71.99

here's the link http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167966

might not be any use to you but worth a look just in case;)

If you did go with that it might also be worth trying to squease 4GB ram in too.

I have the Athlon II X4 620 running on my home rig. You wont be disapointed for the price at all!

if your building around christmas time, then the 5770 should have dropped to around £70-80 replacing the 4770, due to the fact nvidia's gt300 cards are on there way.

2GB of ram is fine at the moment as its easily upgradeable to 4GB in the future.

thanks for the advice guys i wont be getting any lesser than 5000 series graphics tho because i really want direct x 11 and BTW ive changed my mobo to the M4A785TD-V EVO its the same as the M4A785TD-M EVO but ATX instead of micro so i have an extra pci-e slot for crossfire (not buying two cards now the extra slot is for when i have the cash) and also i will probably upgrade to 4gb ram later aswell.

good move tbh as the matx to atx step up is only like £8 and should offer much more overclockability and cooling

Try and get 4GB of ram, it's rather cheap now for DDR2. Like £40.

ddr2 prices shot through the roof around 4 weeks ago and have stayed at that price....

its a move to make people skip and get ddr3 methinks

Build is now done! I changed quite allot of things because as you should expect stock at christmas is not reliable!

Heres the complete rig:

CPU: Athlon II X4 620

Motherboard: M4A785TD-V EVO

RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 3GB 1333MHz

Graphic Card: Asus ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 250GB SATA II 7200RPM

ODD: Samsung whatever :)

Case: NZXT Beta Evo (guess my user name is sort of old now lol)

PSU: SilverStone Strider 500W

I have windows 7 ultimate 64 running on it and DX11 is amazing!!! It is really more than i expected! Final price was about £470 :)
