Jus wanted some thoughts on my choices below before I spend my arms and legs acquiring this gear: :D

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 Socket 775 3GHz 1333FSB 12MB Cache

Mobo: ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution iX48 Socket 775

GPU: XFX GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI XXX Edition

RAM: OCZ 4GB (2x2048MB) IntelExtreme Edition XMP Ready Series 1600

HDD: Western Digital 300GB VelociRaptor SATA 2 16MB cache 10000 RPM

PSU: Corsair PSU 1000W CMPSU-1000HX ATX12V v2.2

Cooling:

Asus Silent Knight AL Pure Aluminium Quiet CPU Cooler

OCZ XTC Memory Cooler

Case:

Coolermaster CM690 Dominator

6 x Gelid 12 UV Blue Fans

I have kinda thought about downgrading the CPU to a Q9550 since its £160 cheaper at the minute but I'm not planning to overclock at all.

The main use for this computer is for Music Production. I have thought about changing the case fans also to something a little quieter since those fans are around 20 dBa but the fan blades are removeable which i thoguht would be handy.

i think its a bit odd you will spend so much on hardware and then buy a cheap case. beware that case power button is a little hard to press and the rubber stuff feels a little cheap, but a okay case overall. i would buy a antec 300 if i was going to spend £50 on a case, its allot better designed and easier to install stuff, but that depends on your taste.

motherboard i would go for a p45 chipset instead of x48 because x48 runs hotter and more expensive.

cpu i would get q9450 rather than q9650, a big difference in price and not so much difference in performance :P

that gpu seems to run VERY hot and i would suggest something like the GTX 260 unless you are getting that gpu for allot more cheaper. (thought they stoped production of them ages ago, where u getting them from?)

psu is definately overkill, you wont need 1kw but corsair makes good psu, try something around 600-700 w.

raptor drives are fast but noisy, hot, small and expensive. with cpc magazine they tested a bunch of hdds and found the samsung f1 1tb have same speed, MUCH bigger and cheaper also much more quite and cooler.

never herd of those ram before but if you looking to spend around £100 then i will go for corsair dominator ram sets.

all this is what i would get but at the end is up to you

the fan blades dont make noise, its the motor. i would get some yate loon brand fans, if you get the 1300 rpm ones and volt mod it to 7v, you wont be able to hear it.

cpu wise a q9450 or q9550 will be fine but a q9650 is too expensive for such a small performance gain. if you really want that little more performance then i just get a q9450 or 550 and over clock a tiny winy bit, i know u said you wont over clock but overclocking a tiny winy bit wont hurt :P

ebuyer is decent :D anyway:

all for under £1k, how much was it going to cost you before?

£969 inc vat and dilivery

wow £1600, you might as well get this then:

case not every ones taste you can choose your own or get the antec 1200.

for this you get fastest gpu out there right now, new core i7 cpu (oct core) and corsair dominator tripple channel ram.

all delivered for £1609

In this case the i7 920 is way better than the C2Q series because you mentioned you're going to do some video editing, which relies heavily on the memory bandwidth. And if i7 has one very good point, it is... memory bandwidth.

Also, most video editing software supports 4 or even more cores. When i7 will become more used in the video editing world software will start to get optimized for it, which will gain you quite a large performance boost.

If you really do not mind the budget you could go for an ATi 4870x2. I'd wait until thursday (yes, tomorrow) for the release of the nVidia 285 (2x, SLI) or 295 (2x 285 slapped together in one card) and see if those are a viable option for you.

If you do mind saving some money and you hate gaming (not probable, but some do...) you could go for 'just' a 4830 or similar because they are more than sufficient for video editing.

Also, on the overclocking topic: even if you're not planning on doing it, you will do it. I only wanted to clock to 3.0gHz for the heck of it and now I'm on 3.7gHz tweaking every little bit of performance out of my rig. You may not be as me, but believe me when I say the temptation is strong once you have the ability ;)

No Music Production. I'm a DJ & Producer. Yeah your probably right, I will eventually end up overclocking haha. I'll check those nVidia cards out 2moz. Cheers.
