This may have been posted already but could not find this so please don't flame...................thanks................

Some recent info...................hope this helps someone...........

Just got off the phone with Asus tech support. It is 9:00AM Aug 4th as I type this........................

The tech told me if I am using the E6600 processor then I need at least bios version 0801 for it to post properly.

The good news is, they are sending me the new bios chip under warranty flashed with 0801 for FREE! I did an upgrade to next day air so as to get it here quicker. Will have to pay for the next day air but if you choose regular ground then they pay the shipping.

Just give tech support a call and there will be no need to worry about flashing yourself in order to get things up and running!

Phone number to tech support is 1-502-995-0883.

In my opinion at least..................this experience with Asus tech support has to rank as perfect! Very knowlegable, friendly and helpful!

As I said..................hope this helps?

Actually XMS I beleive made a CD bootable to flash it to newest bios...

Otherwise awesome.

Good news Lenny.

For some of us it might be worth phoning up Asus just to blag a BIOS chip even if we don't have the problem.

At least if you screw up a BIOS flash in the future, you'll have a spare ;)

Kemp mate, you got your Asus yep... did you get it from Scan? I can't remember. :(

AFAIK i called Scan and they told me cos' they have over 20 of the boards in stock, they said they have a mixed match so they can't tell whether the boards already come with the new bios. Still stuck whether i should still buy it from there or not :/

If they would be so kind...............all they have to do is look on the bios chip on the board..................the bios number is on the chip.

Mine was 0502 so I contacted ASUS and they sent me 0801 chip no charge. I am typing this on my new system with the E6600..................no effort at all...............

Mine came from SCAN and had the 0701 BIOS. This worked fine with my E6600 :)

Got my mobo and same as yours, its a 701 bios... Just curious whether the new bios involves raising the fsb limit at all.. or is it just support for new processors.

BTW, Kemp, did you take off all the heatsinks and clean em out... geez they could've done a better job with the thermal paste! If you did, did you take off the thermal strip fro the mosfets then apply AS5.. or did you leave the strip as it is?

I left the strip on but cleaned the NB and SB

I'm now on 1101 BIOS and it's not bad

Bit of a PITA that it has an FSB wall at 330 unless you enable SPD on the RAM :( (all are the same afaik tho)

I've been seeing some posts over @ XS about being able to unlock the multi's on all of the C2D chips if you're using a BadAxe with some pretty simple mods.

Anyone else been seeing these posts lately?

Sorry for the off topic.
