Instead the announcement at E3 is called "Wii u".

It's a controller that looks like a mini tablet that you can't take anywhere.

God I really hope they are still working on a new console and haven't announced it.

Ok it seems it is a new controller AND their new console....

I dun geddit

Edit: Ummm something about it taking the image and shrinking it so can have an HD image on your controller but not on your TV?? If so then lame.

Ok totally wrong... There is a console but they didn't directly talk about it or even show it properly. It was in the background but they didn't show the design or anything.

Very odd.

Not quite sure why they did that.

Found this over at the Guardian:

"So here they are: the console itself will run in full HD, via HDMI, but the touchscreen isn't HD. The console has internal Flash memory which can be augmented with "SD Card or USB solutions". It will play optical disks and downloadable content, and will be backwards-compatible with Wii software. And it will launch some time between 1 April and 31 December 2012."

wiiu is a pathetic name.Nintendo tablet would have been a better name for that controller,if you can call that a controller. As far as I'm concerned Sony won this years e3,the NGP stole the show away from MS and nintendo. It's just AWESOME! apart from it's name tough.

At first I wasn't that impressed with it, but looking at the possibility in the Wii U demo it did look pretty cool.

But it will only be good if the software supports it, what incentive do 3rd party developers bring out games on the Wii U that won't match the sales that they can get on 360 and PS3, Lets just hope they do bring awesome games out.

Watch the Wii U announcement video then think about BF3 on that controller. Driving that tank in the multiplayer demo with that screen/controller would be awesome.

Wii U should bring out a single controller as well and not just base all game play on this tablet style controller.

i totally agree

Had an incline there was some AMD fusion thrown in there somewhere.

Will you still have to buy a bluray/dvd player to sit next to it ?

Nope, no Fusion as it goes.

While it's a proprietary format, I believe the drive will play DVD's but not BR from what the Nintendo dude was saying.
