New monitor/s and gpu....

Hiah folks. I'm planning on upgrading my current monitor setup.

I currently have a Viewsonic 22" LCD and a 17" POS. I paid £150 for the 22" a while ago from novatech and its been a huge disappointment. Firstly if the screen is entirely blank there are noticeable distortions in the lcd lighting which makes movies with a lot of dark very poor and secondly it has a small cluster of dead pixels about 2/3 of the way down the right hand side of the screen. In fact the 17" that I got for free outperforms it in terms of quality.

I am getting a DSLR soon and am getting into photography and image editing and so I need a decent monitor...... or two.

What I want:

2 22"+ monitors with decent quality for a decent price

a GPU with dual Dvi, (not for gaming and MUST be Nvidia for linux driver support)

I have a Point of View GT220 and I'll probably use that for the current 22" and put it beside the two new monitors...... or maybe in the corner...... or maybe not at all.

Oh and here's a pic of the 22" screen, yes that is what it looks like, its NOT just the photo.

Wow thats seems like a hell of a lot of back light bleed you're getting. People rave about IPS panels for photography, but I've never owned one as they are normally quite expensive in comparison to a TN panel which most people use for games as the refresh rates are better. I sold my old 21" crt a while back to a graphic designer - he swore that they give the best colour bar non.

With LCD you are always going to get back light bleed which is just the nature of the technology. Have a look at LED backlit monitors as they are meant to be better. I have a few Samsung monitors and have no real complaints...

Overclockers have a 23 inch 1080 ips monitor by lg for less than 150. I was considering it but then i got the 27 inch ips 2560x1440 hazrO but yea the only reason i got the hazro was cos of the price of 350 so if you wanted to stretch to 350 id say get the hazro. Its beautiful

I have an IPS monitor and I can definitely say that the colour reproduction/accuracy is amazing (much, much better than my old TN panel monitor). If your into photography then it is recommended to use a colormeter to calibrate it properly. I just used the OSD settings to calibrate it to my liking

The LG from aria HERE looks pretty good so I think that may be the one to go for.

I'm still undecided on the GPU. I was thinking of going for the EVGA GeForce GT 440 as it has dual dvi and I don't need anything better as I don't game.

Any recommendations.

I probably started this thread far too early as I've just got the money together.

I managed to pick up a barely used Nvidia 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition card for £21

which is now sitting in my case so I no longer need a new GPU as this one will tide me over for another year as I don't use my PC for gaming.
