New monitor queries

Hello People!

Looking for a new monitor. Right now I have a Samsung monitor which has a resolution of 1920x1080 but only a vga connector. *Syncmaster B2230* I have it connected to a sapphire 7970 OC.

I am looking for a new monitor so I can watch blu rays on it and hopefully for a better picture but I got a few questions.

This is the monitor I am looking at-> This one

I can't afford an IPS screen and the new one has to be 24inch with a speaker or audio out...*i'll explain later. Budget is around £160. I do a bit of graphic design but mostly gaming.

1. Since I have a stand alone blu ray which only has a HDMI output I was wondering if I connect it to the monitor above will the speakers would work fine on it? *This is why I want it to have speakers or audio out. So I can watch my blu rays with sound.

2. Would I be able to see a difference between 2 monitors with the same resolution but with a signal coming from 2 different cables? One HDMI and one VGA. Leave out the LED stuff in this scenario.

*Note if the monitor has audio out via 3.5mm jack or usb then i'll have my own headphones to use with it

Well every time I go around to my Mums to sort stuff out on her PC I look at her 24" and think: 'That is the perfect size'. Also I would rather have a larger screen for when I watch the Blu rays.
