Well it seems I am getting no where with ASUS tec support regarding the A8N32 mobo, they are just not responding to Emails I have sent regarding some of the coms setting that know one seems to know about plus it seems that this mobo only will allow an overvolt of 1.58 volts not the 1.56 plus the 200mv that was stated in the spec, looking at the spec for the volts I should have been able to get 1.76 volts out of this but this is not the case, so unless they are going to come back to me as I have now sent them three Emails I am going to send this mobo back for a full refund as I does not do what it stated it would do.

So getting away from this problem what mobo do you guys recommend for overclocking is it the DFI or new MSI, must be with SLI , so any recommendations would be grateful?

If you are overclocking on air/water then the new dfi expert is said to be a good board but not the best if you are using phase change. In that case the dfi sli-dr is a great board. Ive got both the ultra-d and the sli-d and they are both good boards and not that difficult to use as some people make out.

With your original mobo can you not send it back to the place where you originally bought it from?

I would not disagree with the above, the MSI DIAMOND PLUS SLI16 will be a welcome addition to that list once the BIOS issues are resolved.

The ASUS board will allow the hiogher voltages if you usign a sand diego core CPU, a DUAL core CPU maxxes out at 1.58v as ASUS are working their over voltage protection in line with AMD specs. Volt mods can be made to relieve this issue though.

The ASUS is a great board let down by this oversight.

Hi Mavrik,

Thanks for the info, looks like I will try and get the Msi, have had a look on lots of forums and it seams very good from what I have seen and as you say it seams the only problem is the bios at the moment of which they should update anyway.

The only problem is I do not know if my PSU will be any good, it is an Enermax 600W NoiseTaker EG-701AX-VE SFMA 2.0, as it only has these Connections:

  • 1 x 24/20-pin Mainboard
  • 1 x 4-pin P4
  • 2 x 6-pin PCI Express (SLI Ready)
  • 4 x SATA
  • 7 x 4-pin Molex
  • 2 x 4-pin FDD
  • 1 x 3-pin MB Fan Monitor

From what I have seen on the MSI site about this mobo it requires the 24 pin and 4 pin power supply in the spec, but in the picture it shows an 8 pin for the cpu supply is this correct or is there a mod that I can do to the Enermax to make this work?

Msi power spec:

Both power connectors, JPWR1 (24 Pin) & JPWR2 (4 Pin, for CPU Power) must be attached to this model to ensure operation of the Mainboard.

as you can see in the pic there is the 4pin molex for the video card and then above it is the 8 pin i asume this is for the cpu supply?

u can use the 4-pin connector and it works fine (so I have heard) there are clear instructions on how to do this.

Cheers

Dont mind me, but the 8pin and 4pin plug placement is horrific!

Hi there cn you tell me more about this pin problem, i have heard that the 600watt Enermax is ok to use, like i said though it only has the 24 pin and 4 pin conectors, i think as maverik said it can be moded some how?

Well have done a lot of serching about the MSI K8n diamond plus and it all looks very good, only the bios making the memory run at 2t seams the only problem from what i have seen, so as maverik said when this bios has been updated to sort this problem then look out DFI, so today i have place my order for it so it should be with me tommorow.
