New mobo and CPU advice

Hi guys,

Right well I've been outa things for a while now but I miss the benching and want to get back into it, but need to do it cheap!

What is the best sub £100 LGA775 mobo out at the mo that will do the best FSB? (as sub £100 as I can go.)

I don't care about features as this is going to be a purely speed thing for now until I get more money to start GFX benching again.

For now I'm probably going to go with good air cooling and work back up from there, I still have my Koolance Exos 2 just need a water block for water cooling. Talking to Thicky about going phase again but not sure when that will be.

I still have my E6600 but that is currently running my HTPC so don't really want to disrupt that. What cheap Core CPU's are doing well atm? Again cheap as possible please guys.

E6600 off Eay and a P5K Vanilla should do ya ok

Ok I found the invoice for the Asus P5B "Vanilla" board I blew up at the last LN2 day I was at along with the TeamXtreem PC6400 RAM which died at the same time.

I am in the process of RMA for both of them so should "soon" have my benching board and RAM back up and running. Just need a CPU now, and with those 2 things running it frees up a little money for the CPU. Was thinking E6750 to start with. Any comments?

Stuck with an x8 multi, so you have to cross

your fingers for good FSB. Other than that...not bad

the chip and mobo will sit at 515 all day but my quad only likes around 480-485

The X38 is only around the corner and should be far better than what we have at the moment.

If you can wait a bit longer, they should hit the shelves by the end of the month.

Thanks guys, it's good to be back I'll get the hardware soon enough and be benching again.

Keep thinking about getting some sort of chiller, I can't afford any phase atm I don't think and don't really want phase in the house atm.

I'm only going for CPU clocking atm, money doesn't allow for GFX buys as they are a little out of budget to me for the time being. As for the X38, I was looking into it but again, yet another outgoing I can't really afford to make. I have the other hardware except the CPU, just need to RMA it from my last bench session when I blew it up lol.
