New Headset Help

Hi guys, I'm need a bit of help here getting myself a new gaming headset.

Firstly, I'm currently running a set of old Sony hi-fi headphones (old link here) that I got a great many moons ago, along with an old TecSound desktop mic, that's probably older than the headset.
As fantastic as they are (not the mic ), I'm after an upgrade to a proper gaming headset.

I'm also running an older-gen Fatal1ty X-Fi sound card, and I'm wanting a good wireless headset. (Must be wireless, no questions asked), however, the ones I have seen, and that I'm interested in are USB, which completely by-pass the sound card and render it useless. Such as these Logitec's or Creative's.

Would it be beneficial to order a good set of headphones with a 3.5mm jack (if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be greatly thankful), or perhaps biting the bullet, so to speak, and getting a USB set such as the ones linked to and selling on my sound card?

Sorry, it's a bit of a long one, but any help appreciated, thanks in advance folks :D

Actually, I'de rather do the opposite, keep the current headphones and get a new mic if I went that route.
Budget is "unlimited" so to speak - I don't mind paying 100-150+ if I'm getting a headset that lasts me from now 'till doomsday I you know what I mean.

Well quality wise - microphones are massively dumbed down through skype and gaming anyway so you dont need to spend much at all on the mic to get the same quality as you would on say a £100 studio mic. I myself spent £4.99 on my mic - just clips onto my monitor.
If you want the best quality stuff - keep your mic, sell your sound card, get a better one and get better headphones.
No gaming headset will be better than your current set up you already have - so dont bother with that
