new HDD

I bought a new HDD because my old one was starting to go out.

I set new HDD to master and installed win XP OS on new HDD.

Problem

I havent wiped old HDD because I want to retrieve programs, DATA, saved files and Browser bookmarks from old HDD to new one.

I tried installing old HDD as slave to retrieve this way but doesnt work. What is the correct way to do this??

PS...any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like your on the right track, are they IDE drives? with jumpers for slave & master etc? Make sure you can see the drives in the bios, if you can't see them there, then windows stands no chance.

Yes, they are IDE (jumper etc.)I didnt think to mention that Lol.

Both HDD's detected but cant read old HDD. It shows four files but none of my saved DATA such as on-line games, programs, pic's, bookmarks, documents and so on

Have you ran chkdsk on the old drive?
