New Guy From Scotland

Greetings from the soon to be independent nation of Scotland. I've been building PC's for about 10 months (1 and halfish so far) so im newbie i guess.

Nice to meet you all and if any one has a good argument why i should upgrade to vista before the year is out im all for it.

Sorry if my grammer or spelling is crap i have dislyxia.

Hi mate nice to see you here on OC3D

Reasons to go to Vista: well DX10 is nice but there's not loads of compelling arguments really, unless you're going 64bit with more than 4GB RAM, in which case it's swift and smooth :D

Didn't notice spelling errors, don't worry about it, we're not grammar police here :D

DX10 would be a very good reason for me to convert Vista. I recently started gaming again a few months back and if there where more titles that utilised DX10 then i would happly fork out 120 quid for the 64bit ultimate.

As it stands there are very few titles with DX10. The reason being i think is Crysis sold a lot less because the specs where so high to the run the gaming engine.

Hense why so few games are being made with DX10 in my oppion. As for ram i have XP Pro 64bit and 2GB of Geil Black Dragon. My CPU is a ageing Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe OC to 3.050GHz.

I tryed it at like 3.8GHz and 3.5Ghz but the VCore had to be set at 1.60. Not the most efficient CPU as you can tell.

Welcome to OC3D. :D

And as for Vista - Personally, I love it. Had dual boot for about two months now and not once touched XP. Bear in mind I do have 4GB RAM though, I'm not sure how bad it might run on lower end systems.

Good luck and have fun at OC3D. :)
