New Gaming PC build, not budget but not hyper high end

Hey guys, I will be buying these parts in roughly a month from now, so I recognize that some prices may change, but overall I believe these to be the best combination for price that I could find on newegg. I believe everything is compatible, but I would love a second opinion and if you see anything that I could upgrade that would not break the bank (The total cost for this is already 1,110$ CAD before taxes and shipping) or if there is something I could switch out to save money for the same performance, let me know.

Here's the build:

Note that I already have a great PSU, a Corsair TX 750 Watt single 12+ V with 61 amps. I also have a 24 inch monitor that I am very happy with.

Another thing, does anyone know of a way to get Windows 7 64 bit for cheap? I don't want to pirate it, but paying 100 bucks just for the OS does sting quite a bit.

Thanks guys.

Things i would change are

The UD3 to a Asus P8Z68 V-PRO. If you are going with a Z68 board you may as well get one that has the full features of Z68 like the Lucid technology so you can use Quick Sync for encoding videos plus the V-PRO is the better board.

The case isn't the best and the fans would be loud on that thing, I just read a few of the reviews on the Egg for it and there are a few people saying the fans broke shortly after they bought it. If you can afford it go for something like the Coolermaster 690 II ADV it's about the best midrange bang for your buck case there is. There is a review of it on the youtube channel just search 690.

I would go for the MSI Twin Frozr III 570 if you can afford it. It has the best and quietest cooler out of all the other versions. If you cant afford the Twin Frozr III check out the slightly cheaper Twin Frozr II version.

The SSD is quite slow for the money you can get the OCZ Solid 3 for the same price and it is much faster and has the latest Sandforce controller which means it will last longer.

Everything else looks good though but you may want to get a CPU cooler if you want to overclock, the Noctua D14 would be the best, i'm not sure what coolers you have available in America so I don't know what a good cheap alternative would be.

Thanks for the response.

You know what's silly, I set out with the idea of making a 600$ gaming computer.. OS included. Haha, that's not quite working out is it?

I hate going cheap on technology. I recognize that I will be a gamer for my entire life so investing now saves me a good deal later.. but that said, it still hurts seeing the bank take sure a critical hit.

Let me see here, the motherboard you recommend I have mixed feelings about. Technically speaking you're absolutely correct, it is a superior board in terms of features. Gigabyte uses extremely high quality durable components though, so I feel it may last longer and be better for raw overclocking capability. However.. that said, ASUS = sick bios. I saw some youtube videos, man.. I really want to get it just for that. Truly badass.

I want to say this. I REALLY wish ASUS had a different color scheme option for the board. If I am going to drop 200 dollars for it, I want to like the appearance but.. light blue does not do it for me. At the end of the day, that's rather vain but come on. At least it's roughly the same cost as the UD3.

Well, anyhow, it's out of stock now. Perhaps in a month it won't be.. if so I will have to make a decision then. I'd say both boards are amazing in the end I think the ASUS BIOS is what sells me. Also overclocking functionality in the OS is cool.

The case is definitely the one for me IF the 70$ instant savings are still applied. If not I may look into a different one. For me the case is just about looking good and having space, the rest isn't a huge factor. The huge fan is apparently very quiet, and it's gargantuan.

As for the SSD, the one you suggested has no reviews at all on newegg. I take it you have it? The specs do look better, but I'm a bit iffy on buying a product with no reviews.

The Graphics cards I may just take because it will help a ton with overclocking. Thanks.

Man, I'm so excited for this!

TBH, i think you would be better getting a 1TB sata3 WD caviar black (or similar) rather than an SSD for the moment.

this will bring your budget down a bit - you are a gamer - you won't benefit for an SSD just yet - get a 7200rpm HDD for the time being and upgrade later to the SSD.

also, you have a tight budget - have you thought of an AMD solution, or, do you REALLY need intel???

why the windowed case? lights? or, are you thinking of watercooling at a later date?

there are much better EATX cases out there, with better cooling(airflow).

If you are worried about a review on a product you will be hard pressed not to find a review you can trust on these forums or check out TTL's reviews on the products you're interested in, you're bound to find something here.

No probs.

I don't have that SSD but it is from OCZ so you can pretty much count on it being good. It is a new SSD and has only been out for just over a week so there are no proper reviews for it yet but for the money it's the best around at the moment. There is also the OCZ Vertex 3 which is 50MB/s read and 50MB/s write faster but is also $70 more so it's not really worth paying $70 more just for an extra 50MB/s a second, in my opinion anyway.

I would change the EVGA card, Lately every system I have had friends build with EVGA cards seems to have some thing go wrong.

Should be a good system.

Once you start building post up a build log

For me if a case has a window then the interior should be painted. Even alot of the low end cases with windows have a painted interior these days. e.g. CoolerMaster Elite 430, - and that's only £30 ish.

Eh, liquid cooling isn't necessary from what I've been seeing. If I decide to take the suggestion and go with the MSI Twin cooling GTX 570 instead, well.. everything should stay very cool even if I overclock it up.

Maybe I've been mislead, but I thought getting a SSD would speed up my games? Not the raw fps potential, but the loading of it? (Going into a new area, loading a new map, the game itself, etc..) and with the smart caching technology on the motherboard it seems a waste not to tap into it. I already have a 200 GB hard drive I will use in combination, and that's plenty space for me. (I stream most of my shows and movies).

I'm an Intel fanboy and will die an Intel fanboy.

Yeah I'm bummed it's not painted either, but seriously guys it's 70$ instant savings. If that's still in effect in a month I would be hard pressed not to get it.

Eh. Maybe I could go for a mid tower but I don't know. I love the idea of going full tower, never tried that before. More room to work makes it a breeze to assemble.
