Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how good my build looks or if there are any improvements I could make to it.

My whole system is going to be primarily for gaming and of course i want it to look good too

I will water cool my whole system but i first need to work out what components i need before decide on watercooling

any comments are appreciated
Thanks

Hi,

I think your build looks nice.

I would change following things:

I would take a cheaper MB, unless you really need some of the features of the ROG board.

I would probably take the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming or ASRock Z87 extreme 4 due to optics

For a gaming 8GB of RAM are enought, so you could save some money here.

I would also take a Samsung 840 evo SSD instead of the OCZ one. That is because OCZ SSDs dont have such a good reputation for long lasting, not sure about the Vector series though.

As a case alternative you can check out the Phanteks Enthoo Primo, however noone seems to have it on stock yet.

By the way do you already have a PSU?

If not you can have a look at the be quiet! e9 series

I think buying the 900D is a bit OTT too, you dont need THAT much space for your rig. Id look at the 900D and spend the extra elsewhere.

Have a look at my 750D review but that case can easily house the watercooling youll need for your rig and still be able to be silent.

The Vector is even worse than the Vertex. I had the Vector in mind at first, but after reading reviews and such I chose to go for the Corsair Force LS (128gb). Overall OCZ SSD's do not perform very well lol ^_^

hey guys thanks for all the replies :)

yeah i was thinking the 900D might have been abit overkill. i will definitely look at the 750D.

As for the motherboard, it was the only one that i could find that actually had what i wanted for quite cheap. i mean it's red and black which will go with the rest of my build and has water-cooling features to cool the Mosfets.

I have updated the specs accordingly, if there are still some things that you feel could be improved upon please do

thanks

8GB of RAM may be enough to play some games, but if you account for your OS and anything else running in the background, that is easily 2GB right there. So unless you plan on playing games that use <6GB of RAM, you're gonna run into RAM problems... which if you're going for a system like that, you presumably are going to play high-end games. Plus, if you get something like 32GB of RAM, you could drop the SSD and instead use a RAMdisk.

650w is a little weak for that kind of system. I have no doubt that it will actually run on that PSU, but (as far as I can speculate, at least) it won't run particularly efficiently or cool. Go for a ax 760. That'll allow for a little capacitor aging, and possibly an upgrade or OC. Plus, it's black and red, and if you're willing to spend an extra few hundred bucks on something because it is, "black and red", there's no reason not to shell out an extra few dolla-dolla for on something that will perform better, and have a beloved black and red color scheme.
