Hey, am thinking of upgrading to C2 and am wanting peoples opinions on the cpu mobo and the ram that i had in mind.

am thinking of getting:

E6400 AUD$297

P5N32-E sli plus AUD$305

Corsair Performance 2 x 1GB 800mhz AUD$231

or should i wait for the E4650?

any ideas welcome......

it seems that the barcelona is designed for servers and the like, and that it won't give a huge performance increase over the C2D for standard applications as well as gaming.

With Penryn, it looks like the only difference is that it will be a 45nm chip rather than 65nm. which means that it will be more energy efficient, and thats about it.

Since there will most likely be price drops for the C2, i think that it would still be the best option for gaming.

Massive price cuts for both AMD and Intel are coming in April. Also, Agena is the desktop version of Barcelona, a native Quad core part (4x512kb L2 and 2mb L3 / 463 million transistors / 65nm) with numerous enhancements (SSE128, new branch predictor, sideband stack optimizer, improved out of order load execution, improved TLBs, improved prefetchers and a faster memory controller. Penryn (410 million transistors / 45nm) has 6mb shared L2 cache and 23% more core-logic, control and L1 transistors over Conroe.

thanks for those links, realy helpful... means that i now will put off the upgade for another couple of months. for the 5th or 6th time.
