New cooler for 2600k

Hi guys,

First post here.

I bought a 2600k + Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 mobo yesterday. I have been trying to overclock the CPU but the temps are going above 80C with 1.35V for 4.5GHz (maybe 4.6GHz too) with my Thermalright MUX-120 push/pull with Enermax T.B.Silent fans.

I'm wondering whether to buy a new cooler, since the summer heat is coming soon.

I will list a few options and can you select the best options for me? Maybe I should first try reseating the cooler and see if it does better.

Thermalright Silver Arrow or Noctua NH-D14 are your best choices. Flip a coin. I went with the Noctua for my latest build.

Most people on this site would probably just get the Noctua NH D14 and be done with it. I'm running one with a 4.4 overclock on a 2500K @ 1.315v, and it idles around 14C above ambient.

You also have to bear in mind that not all chips are created equal, some will take more volts to reach the same overclock. The higher the volts the higher the temp...

btw are those idle or load temps?

My room is very hot, and my temps are like 30deg. C at idle, 34-38 under normal OS usage, bit higher in the BIOS.

Plus the D14, imo, is really easy to install, its just putting the fans back onto the heatsink after installation might be a bit painful on your thumbs

Just go for the D14

I have a 2500k running at 4.5Ghz Stock Volts and with my Zalman CNPS10XSTREAM i get 37-40c idling and no more than 60 on full load. Not sure how it compares to the DH14 but i liked the fact it had a Blue LED fan and it fitted with my Blue/Black Rig so thats why i got it ^^

Their colors or their performance? I must be one of the few people on the planet that don't mind the fan colors

IMO the fans are OK in terms of looks, they go well in my rig anyway.

But what I really love is the performance
