New Computer

OCZ ram from my experience is terrible.

I would go Corsair, G.Skill or Mushkin (preferably mushkin but prepare to pay the price for the high end stuff).

Infact to be quite frank I would sooner go with any other ram company than OCZ tbh. Kingston Hyper X (the lower end 1600mhz stuff) is very keenly priced.

Haha Tom beat me to it

I would love to try muskin, but as I said before Is not available here in Portugal. (Apart: I LOVE THAT WHITE MUSKIN beautiful!!)

Only if I order them form UK or something, and for that I dont know any thrusty store as well. I dont really know what to do.

Well you can only get it from Aria and they're exceptional.

I beleive they dont send to outside UK.

And they Muskin ram dont look that super expensive:

Mushkin 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 6-8-6-24 Redline Ridgeback 141 £ ( 165€) remembering that they are doing CL6. ah more taxes, that maybe high for me because of deleiver =S.

And one more thing, when you say that the Rams are terrible is what? Slow? doesnt do what the specs say? I just want to understand =S

I'm guessing either they died on him, or they don't overclock too well; you need good ram for a healthy cpu overclock. Not sure I've always been a Kingston, Corsair and Mushkin fanboy myself so yeah...

Assuming your using Chiptec aka. the only Portuguese computer retailed Google could find

Out of all the options available I would probably go for the CAS8 Corsair Dominators.

Specwise OCZ ram is OK. Nothing remarkable, just OK. It's the failure and DOA rates that are alarming on their products. Most if not all are cheaply made and sold products.

Their PSUs are the same kind of deal, all apart from the ones they don't actually make.

Well people. Money dont fall from the sky XD

So I will buy the 6GB GSKILL PI CL7 DDR3 12800 1600MHZ TRI-CHANNEL (3x2GB) Timings: 7-8-7-24

At a good price of 120€. Well it cant be all good XD. And I will have allready a good machine! =)

Here is the choosen parts:

Coolmaster HAF 932 (yeah the HAF X is better, it looks very cool but is 50€ more to do allmost the same, and this one is enought)

Asus ROG Rampage III Extreme

i7 950

6GB GSKILL PI CL7 DDR3 12800 1600MHZ TRI-CHANNEL (3x2GB)

Corsair AX850

WESTERN DIGITAL 3,5" Caviar Black WD1002FAEX - 1 TB - 7200 rpm - 64 MB - SATA-600 (I dont like samsung)

EVGA GTX 570 (waiting to price drops a bit. And to be available)

Furure adds:

OCZ Vertex 2 Sandforce 1200 120GB SSD (R: 285MB W: 275MB)

Noctua NH-D14

EVGA GTX570 ( when price really drops, like in 12/18 months)

Thats All

Wow this pc is almost the same specs that I wanna get. Except im only getting mobo, ram, cpu and gcard and psu.

This is what I'm planning

First of:

i7 950

Asus Sabertooth X58

Corsair Dominator ram (3x2)

(7000 South African Rand here($1029.41)sorry I dont know UK currencies)

Then a psu when I have enough money

Corsair AX750W(R1800($264.7):/)

And eventually Noctua D14

Hopefully I can order the stock EVGA GTX570 with the noctua otherwise seperate

a compromise in the middle, an SSD is expensive and fast, a HDD is cheap and slow, but a WD raptor, is not slow by any means, it just isnt as fast as a SSD, and it doesnt need trim, so no faffing around with extra software, nor is it as expensive per GB, so id have a WD raptor as a main drive, then a HDD for files and junk after....simples?

Well my computer will cost 1450€. And that PSU that you are talking about is way cheaper. The one I chosen (Corsair AX850) cost 170€. The Ax750 here cost 150€ here =S

Then lets compare the both machines in the end XD with soma Vantage or 3Dmark XD

Ok, according to my calculations 258.925 USD,197.606 EUR,167.383 GBP

O_o Remember we pay a crap load of importing fees and this is the cheapest here :/

On amazon its like $180 but importing costs allot

Anyways Also waiting for 570 to drop, I may even get a 580 If I am willing to save.

My pc atm will cost me 13748 ZAR, so 1,301.47 GBP, 1,536.50 EUR, 2,010.91 USD

If i was you i would be very happy with that, my recent first build did not have everything i wanted but its still a powerfull pc, thumbs up to you for taking sensible route, you can upgrade later on when your happy and its financially possible for your self because you still have a top rig.

It doesnt matter what you get there will always be people saying things could better here/there and you can spend £££££££'s getting then next best thing, go for what you feel you want to go for and you wont be dissapointed if you have researched all your parts.

Thanks Overclock3D.

My last Doubt about the Rig is only the power supply =S. I dont know if the Gold line of Corsair with 90% efficency and 850W will handle later on 2 GTX570 and OC on the i7 950. I think or will be fully loaded or will not be enought =S.

Maybe I change to the AX750 and then when I buy the second GTX570 I buy a 450w power suply HX series only to that XD.

Or now I go right away and buy the HX1000 but is Dual Rail 40amps each. When the Ax1200 is Single Rail 100Amps. And prices, see for your self:

Ax850 : 170€

Ax1200: 270€ (cant affor it)

HX1000: 200€ (effeciency 85%, and Doble Rail 40Amps each).

Honestly dont know what to do =S. I never OC a system, never had SLI. Please help me here =(

Notes:

EVGA GTX 570 Single Require a 550w power suplly with 38amp on the 12v rail.

My OC will be at 4Ghz no more. For the i7 950 ofc XD

After what I saw today, Im sorry but I dont think so. And If you do an overclock less change for her ( power suplly) to handle.

Just check out here: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

And choose Dual GTX580 (that is almost the same). Then you will notice that Certified are AX1200 and HX1000 between others.

By the way, do you have an SLI config to be sure and tell people that handle??

Thanks anyway for the reply.
